HTC One M9 Plus Review
HTC One M9 Plus Review & Introduction: Earlier this year HTC launched its One M9 Plus smartphone, the mobile looks like the
exact same replica of HTC One M9, which is its parent device, with some miniature
changes in the hardware. HTC One M9 Plus comes with 5.2 inch Super LCD3
capacitive touch screen powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-core processor and Mediatek
MT6795 Helio X10 chipset. The software it runs on is Android Lollipop, with
pre-installed HTC Sense version 7 in the smart phone. The phone is really powerful
and offers very fine picture quality with its 20 MP camera and crisp sound through
its Boombox speakers. The price of HTC One M9 Plus is justifiable with its amazing
features that made brought the smartphone the flora of achieving 87 score at
PriceJugaad.com. Lets us go through HTC One M9 Plus Review for better
understanding of the product.
Display Features: The HTC One M9 plus is provided with a 5.2 inches super LCD3 capacitive touch
screen providing 16M colors of resolution 1440 x 2560 pixels. The phone also has
approximately 560 pixels per inch, thus making the display a wonder. The display is
also multi-touch enabled. The display of M9 Plus is absolutely fantastic, you will
have no problem with the viewing angles and color reproduction while all credits go
to the Quad HD resolution this phone offers. The display of M9 Plus is so amazing
that it will really catch your eyes with the crispness and clarity of the images it
produces. The super LCD3 screen makes the viewing experience unlike anything
else.
Design Specifications: If you were thinking of some out of the box innovation in the HTC One M9 plus then
you will be disappointed, there are no major changes in the size and body design of
One M9 plus and it looks just like that of HTC One M8and M9. The only prominent
difference that we felt was that the finishing of One M9 plus is really amazing. The
finishing is about the extent that the phone does not slip away easily from the hand,
to which HTC has always shown great concern for perfecting the finishing of its
products. The speakers are really amazing and one can easily say that they are the
best in class speakers right now. The fingerprint scanner present on the Home
Button is very sensitive and you have to manage your fingers through particular
angles for using it to unlock the device.
The phone is large as its dimensions are 5.94 x 2.83 x 0.38 inch and weighs 168
grams while the body of HTC M9 One Plus is made of metal body and the screen is
protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. HTC One M9 available in 3 colors variants,
namely Gunmetal Gray, Amber Gold and Silver Gold.
Battery Backup Life: The HTC One M9 Plus is powered with Non-removable Li- PO 2840 mAh battery that
promises stand-by up to 598 h on 2G network while up to 626 h on 3G network and
talk time up to 23 h on 2G Network and 13 h on 3G Network. As the device has as
many as eight cores the battery levels are very much dependent on the number of
times you would use the power saving mode. When tested through the PCMark
battery test the value comes around 6 hours, which is really not a positive sign and
so we can say that all in all the battery in M9 Plus is just an average.
Memory Storage:
The HTC One M9 plus comes with internal storage of 32GB which can be expanded
up to 128 GB using the MicroSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone also
comes with a 3 GB RAM, thus making it really powerful.
Camera Features: The HTC One M9 Plus is installed with the primary camera of 20 MP having dual
mode with Ultrapixel sensor of 5376 x 3752 pixels; the secondary camera having 4
MP with quality of 1080p@30fps. The video is recorded with quality of
2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, 720p@120fps, HDR and stereo sound rec. The camera
has auto-focus with dual-LED flash. The primary camera also features Geo-tagging
touch focus, HDR, panorama and the very unique face/smile detection. . The free
cloud storage of 100GB is really a plus that comes with the camera. Even though
HTC promises the above mentioned qualities in the camera it still lacks certain
attributes. The images clicked with M9 Plus were not very clear and it was really a
surprise coming from a flagship phone from HTC.
Processor: The HTC One M9 plus is powered by MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 chipset torqued
with Octa-core, 2200 MHz, 64-bit processor. This time HTC did not use Snapdragon
chipset instead they used the Mediatek chipset, this is a highly debated topic
amongst the experts, but what we thought of as the main reason HTC did this was to
get away from the shortcomings of the Snapdragon chipset that included
overheating problems. If you analyze the MediaTek chipset then you would find that
the Helio X10 is amongst the best chipset in the world. The MediaTek chipset works
really smooth and doesn’t lead to the phone heating up even after continuous use.
Technology Aspects: The phone runs on the latest version of HTC Sense while the primary software is
Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, there are not many changes from the previous version of UI
and the only difference we saw was in customization options and different types of
themes. The Geo-Tagging has been integrated in the phone so it can provide location
specific suggestions for the app and Blinkfeed. The pre-installed app on the phone
includes Polaris office v5, Fun Fit, Scribble etc.
Conclusion:
HTC One M9 Plus review had made it clear how powerful phone the phone is. But it’s
just not worth it to spend tons of money to buy this product. Having the same old
design with mediocre camera and not so amazing battery life, we advise you to be
very thoughtful before buying this phone even if you are a pro HTC fan. Though the
smartphone is loaded with ample features, it failed to obtain good reviews and that
is reflected in the review score which is 48. There are many other phones that offer
exactly the same capability as the M9 Plus but with half its price, if you want to
spend huge amount of money buying a smartphone then you can choose from
Google Nexus 6 or the Apple iPhone 6 and if you want to scale down on your budget
then you could consider One Plus and its contemporaries.
