cape may bird observatoryYou’re in a world-class natural paradise... and this is the place to enjoy it, whether you’re an expert or beginner

Where Is It?NEAR Lily Lake in Cape May Point.

Why should I Go?WELCOME to the epicenter of the natural world – the migration capital of North Amer-ica. A magical place, Cape May was selected by Natural History magazine as one of the top 50 destinations in the world for natural treasures.

That’s right... as well as enjoying those beau-tiful beaches and amazing Victorian architec-ture, you get to experience monarch butter-flies in autumn, the fall hawk migration, spring shorebirds and horseshoe crabs, songbirds, warblers, terns, owls and more.

New Jersey Audubon Society’s Cape May Bird Observatory is your resource for nature information. There are two centers offering activities year-round. They also have the largest selection of binoculars at com-petitive prices, as well as gifts, bird feeders, garden goodies, clothing and books.

The Northwood Center, nestled in the trees overlooking Lily Lake in Cape May Point, is the perfect spot to find out

everything that is going on in Cape May’s breathtakingly-beautiful natural world.

The Center for Research & Education, 20 miles north in the town of Goshen, has bird and butterfly gardens, wildlife art exhibits, and a nature shop.

Both centers are open year-round, from

9:30 am-4:30pm. Pick up a nature map, a schedule, and explore!
