MORAN BROKERAGE NEWSAll expectations point to 2010 being another great year for our clients and we at Moran Yacht & Ship remain positioned to outperform our competitors on both the sales and charter sides of the business.

According to the Market Intelligence Report published by Boat International, superyacht sales were up close to 250% in January as compared to the same period in 2009. Moran Yacht & Ship accounted for close to 41% of the total dollar amount of sales during just the month of January with the closing of the 192 Ft. (58.55m) Lürssen CAPRI. In addition to the sale of CAPRI, the team at Moran Yacht & Ship closed on the 164 Ft. (50m) Westport LADY KATHRYN IV in February. This represents the second largest sale of the year, second only to CAPRI.

On the charter side, NORTHERN STAR the brand-new 248 Ft. (75.6m) Lürssen is completely booked for her debut Mediterranean season. Launched in late 2009, NORTHERN STAR is the product of a knowledgeable owner and the experienced management team at Moran Yacht & Ship. She has been nominated for the World Superyacht Awards 2010 for Best Displacement Motor Yacht of 1,300 GT and Above (63m+).

Moran Yacht & Ship is also pleased to announce two new additions to our charter fleet; the 188 Ft. (57.3m) Abeking & Rasmussen EXCELLENCE III and the 145 Ft. (47m) Heesen 4YOU. We anticipate a busy charter calendar for these magnificent ships in the Mediterranean this summer.

MIAMI RECAP 2010Covering 1.2 million square feet of space and spanning nearly one-mile along the Indian River Waterway, the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show took place from the 11th to the 15th of February in beautiful Miami Beach, FL. With inclement weather effecting most of the North East, plenty of interested and qualified individuals still made the journey to see what the show had to offer.

Moran Yacht & Ship once again represented some of the most magnificent yachts in the show. Among these was the pristine 155 Ft. SILVER LINING built by Christensen in 1997. Meticulously maintained, SILVER LINING has only seen light family use and it is clearly visible.

Once again on display at the Miami Show was the 145 Ft. NQEA built LADY KATHRYN III. Her beautiful interior, combined with her speed, volume and stability, offer an all-around package not seen in vessels of a similar size. LADY KATHRYN III will also be on display at the Palm Beach Boat Show March 25th – 28th, 2010.

Additionally, the 130 Ft. Westport MARY ALICE II was on display and received considerable interest. With recent upgrades including zero-speed stabilizers and a stern thruster, MARY ALICE II has both the cruising comforts and toys found on yachts of a much larger size.

Overall, we are very positive about the prospects at the show this year. Among those who viewed our vessels, many expressed serious interest and we expect offers to be made on all of our boats in the show. We are chasing every lead and are working overtime for our clients.
