The interoperability will be demonstrated via amultimedia presentation depicting an operationalscenario in which Elbit Systems' communications,UAS, observation, reconnaissance and targetdesignation solutions interact and play integralroles.

Elbit Systems will be presenting at the upcomingDEFEXPO 2010 (booth18.17 G, Israel Pavilion, Hall 18,ground floor) a broad array of capabilities demonstratingfull system interoperability, which will be demonstratedvia a multimedia presentation.

The presentation, “Networking in Action” will featurereal life combat situations and demonstrate how thesystems' interoperability, in offensive operations onenemy territory, enables achievement of crucialobjectives. The presentation will allow viewers toexperience dynamic combat experiences and missionswith dramatic special effects replicating how the systemswork in fully realistic views. Like previous ElbitSystems’ presentations which have won prestigiousinternational awards for their innovative approach, thisone promises to be just as memorable and exciting. The following systems will be featured in the

multimedia presentation:Skylark® I-LE

This new model Skylark® unmanned aircraft systemis based on the vast experience accumulated by Skylark®I in thousands of hours in operational flight in variouswar zones (Iraq and Afghanistan). In addition to majorimprovements implemented, based on extensiveoperational experience, Skylark® I-LE has beenupgraded to offer longer endurance of up to three hoursand enhanced robustness, two crucial features that ensureoverall improved operational performance.

In December 2008 the Israeli Defence Ministryselected Elbit Systems to equip the IDF battalion-levelwith the Skylark® I-LE for all Ground Forces, includingtraining and logistics support.

Skylark® I-LE will be presented in real-size in theElbit Systems booth.

BRO@DNET_Wireless Point to Multi Point broadband WiMAX - based communications system

This complete turnkey, network basedcommunications system expands the concept of"Network-Centric Warfare" (NCW) solutions. Based onwireless broadband WiMAX technology to deliver longrange, high-capacity broadband IP based data, video andvoice telecommunications, the Bro@dnet system enablesall combat units and commands to use a single Internetnetwork that includes all battlefield information. Israel'sMinistry of Defence selected the Bro@dnet systemsolution for all the branches of the Israel Defence Forces.

_ELSAT2000 _- _Tactical, _Full _Military_Standardized _Satellite _Communication _on-the-Move

_(SOTM) _Solution

ELSAT2000 is the first tactical, full militarystandardized satellite communication on-the-move(SOTM) solution, allowing low visibility profile andhigh data rate broadband capabilities. Elbit Systemsdeveloped a low profile SOTM antenna that providesbroadband communication anywhere, anytime, supportedby a unique modem technology for the SOTMcommunication.

A military grade, triple-play secured IP routingsolution for mobile & deployed command posts andarmored command vehicles, TMR is designed todisseminate voice, data and video over narrowband andbroadband Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANET).

TMR will be presented in real-size in the ElbitSystems booth._SDR-7200 _- _Software _Defined _Radio

SDR-7200 enables the reception and transmission oflive video feeds via simultaneous voice and dataoperation, on a single network of only 25Khz bandwidthat VHF frequency band with data transfer rates of up to115.2 Kbps.

SDR-7200 allows true command on move with datacommunication of several Mb/s across various bandwidths.

SDR-7200 will be presented in real-size in the ElbitSystems booth.

_MaXess® - Elbit Systems' advanced broadbandMilitary Wireless LAN supporting live videotransmission and reception, MaXess® is based onadvanced ad-hoc networking protocols, enabling the landwarrior to efficiently close the sensor to shooter loop.

_VIC-500 _Digital _Intercom for tanks and othermilitary vehicles is a digital wireless intercom systemthat links the on-board crew members among themselvesas well as with the external world. With this system, eachcrew member can dismount the vehicle and move on footunencumbered to a distances of up to 800 meters fromthe vehicle, while remaining in touch with all of the othermounted or dismounted crew members as well as withother forces and radio stations. The VIC-500’s uniquefull-duplex conference communicating capability allowstwo crew members to speak simultaneously, while anunlimited number of personnel listen in, improvingcoordination and reducing operational errors.

Systems booth._DASH - _Display _and _Sight _Helmet _System

DASH enables pilots to aim their weapons simply bylooking at the target. DASH measures the pilot’sLine-Of-Sights (LOS) relative to the aircraft, andtransfers its information to other aircraft systems.Aircraft, sensors, avionics and weapons are thus enslavedto the target. DASH is adaptable to any fighter/attackaircraft and will accommodate advanced missiles andsmart weapon lock-on envelopes.

Night flight capabilities are provided with the new DASH inherent dual visor capability and theDASH-Night helmet which benefits from all DASHfeatures even in harsh weather conditions, and receivesall flight information, targets and data for true24/7operation. There are over 1000 helmets and 750systems operational on 4 continents and onboardnumerous different platforms.

_PLDR II - _Portable _Lightweight _Designator _/_Rangefinder

The PLDR-II system is a lightweight, man-portable,cutting edge laser designation and targeting system thatpermits war-fighters to rapidly bring effective fire to bearon hostile targets.

_CORAL-LS - _Hand-held _3-5 _µm _FPA _Thermal_Imaging _Camera, based on the proven CORAL, theCORAL-LS is a Thermal Imaging Camera with integral1.06µm imaging capability, incorporating a See SpotCamera. Lightweight, compact and equipped with acontinuous zoom, the camera is suitable for close airsupport and forward observers, night sight laserdesignator units and ground.

CORAL-LS will be presented in real-size in the ElbitSystems booth.

_Dominator® _Integrated _Infantry _Combat _System- Detects, Delivers,Decides, Disseminates.

Dominator® empowers infantry units with fullsituational awareness, networking them into integratedinformation systems. When using Dominator® everysoldier is a sensor and platform. Land warriors can sendand receive information in real time, viewup-to-the-minute situation pictures (terrain, enemy andown forces) on personal displays as well as live video

from different sensors, and transmit images and positionsback to command posts and headquarters.

Some of the Dominator® systems for the infantrysoldier will be presented in real-size in the Elbit Systemsbooth.

_CORAL-CR - _Hand-held _3-5 _µm _FPA _Thermal_Imaging _Camera with continuous optical zoom and theaddition of an integral digital compass, GPS receiver anda laser rangefinder, CORAL-CR’s light weight,ruggedized construction and excellent picture quality arewell suited for security and perimeter defence targetacquisition missions. CORAL CR can also function as anight sight for medium range weapon systems or nightbinocular for light patrol boats and MBT/AFVcommanders.

CORAL–CR will be presented in real-size in the ElbitSystems booth.

_LILY is a new family of lightweight ThermalImaging Weapon Sights (TWS) designed for use byindividual infantry soldiers, which provide significantadvantages for operations in total darkness and in eventhe most difficult environmental conditions.

GES is a solution suitable for old and new types ofguns which includes Elbit Systems' Enhanced TacticalComputer (ETC) and COMBAT, Artillery C4I and FireControl Application. Elbit Systems' LWS is immune to reflectionsfrom nearby objects, gun firing, lightning, fires,explosions and on-board laser operation. The LWS canbe installed at field level as stand-alone or integratedsystems. No armor machining is required for installation.

Oshkosh Defense to Introduce M-ATV toEuropean Market at InternationalArmoured Vehicles Exhibition

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- Oshkosh Defense, a division ofOshkosh Corporation, will be featuring the MRAPAll-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) in its European debut atthe International Armoured Vehicle Exhibition 2010,which is taking place Feb. 2-3 at the ExCel Centrein London.

Also on display at the Oshkosh booth (#268 in hallsS4/S5) will be the company’s protected, multi-roleSandCat vehicle.

The M-ATV is now operational in Afghanistan andwas designed to provide exceptional protection andsuperior mobility for operations on the country’s rugged,mountainous terrain and unimproved road networks.Oshkosh Defense has received orders from the U.S.military to produce 6,619 M-ATVs and has ramped upproduction to more than 1,000 vehicles per month inresponse to an urgent need for the vehicle.

“The M-ATV’s introduction to Europe will provide anexcellent opportunity for international militaries to get agood look at this high-performance vehicle and learnmore about how it can enhance the capabilities of theirfleets,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executivevice president and president, Defense. “It is awell-protected and highly mobile vehicle that wasdesigned to thrive in combat operations in the harshestcross-country environments.”

The M-ATV uses the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4®independent suspension system to achieve a 70 percentoff-road profile capability and 16 inches of independent

wheel travel. The TAK-4 system has undergone morethan 500,000 miles of government testing and also isfeatured on more than 10,000 Oshkosh Medium TacticalVehicle Replacements (MTVR), as well as thecompany’s Logistics Vehicle System Replacement(LVSR) and Palletized Load System (PLS) A1. Thesystem also is being retrofitted on more than 2,400legacy MRAPs for improved mobility in Afghanistan.

The M-ATV has a payload capacity of 4,000 poundsand seats five (four passengers and a gunner). Thevehicle uses a Caterpillar C7 370-horsepower engine andan Allison 3500 SP transmission, and has a maximumspeed of 65 miles per hour. Its two-channel central tireinflation system has four terrain settings, which thevehicle can switch to automatically, and includes anintegrated driveline lock control system. Run-flat tiresallow the M-ATV to travel a significant distance at ahigh speed on flat tires.

The SandCat is a protected, multi-role vehicle with amodular armor system that can be customized to meetthe payload needs and threat levels of varying operations,including military, law enforcement, homeland security,peacekeeping, disaster aid and security. The vehicle isavailable in utility and transport variants, which carryfour to eight people, as well as the Special OperationsVehicle (SOV) variant. The SandCat SOV was designedfor special forces units that need an open, highlymaneuverable and well-protected vehicle for operationsin remote locations.

Protection features include a high-energy absorbingbelly deflector, ballistic steel roof, collapsible seat baseand suspended seats. Armor sections made from metalcomposites provide protection from multiple hits and areintegrated into the vehicle’s design to allow for a higherpayload capacity than a standard vehicle its size. TheSandCat boasts a 325-horsepower engine, has amaximum speed of 75 miles per hour and featuresexceptional maneuverability. The vehicle is built aroundcommercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components tomaximize ease of maintenance and repairs globally.

Both the M-ATV and SandCat feature advanced armorsolutions from Plasan North America and Plasan Sasa,Ltd. Plasan also developed the armor system used onmore than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands ofOshkosh MTVR Armored Cabs already in theater.Oshkosh is offering an M-ATV variant and the SandCatwith JLG Australia and Plasan Sasa, Ltd. for theAustralian Department of Defence’s Land 121“Overlander” Phase 4 program. An M-ATV variant alsois being offered for the Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle(TAPV) program in Canada.

vehicles in cooperation with Oshkosh Defense, forthe Bulgarian Ministry of Defense. Plasan wasawarded this contract December 2008.

During a visit to Israel earlier this month, BulgarianPrime Minister Boyko Borisov and Bulgarian Minister ofDefence Nikolay Mladenov examined the SandCat upclose, followed by meetings with their Israelicounterparts: Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak.

Mr. Yaron Roded, Director for Marketing andBusiness Development at Plasan, comments: "TheSandCat design fits perfectly into today's peacekeepingand HLS tasks, taking into account the emerging threatswhile maintaining the required flexibility for off-roadand on-road mission profile which are so essential formany armies, police, and SWAT teams world-wide."

Earlier this month, Plasan welcomed Israeli Ministerof Defense Ehud Barak to its facilities in Kibbutz Sasa.This visit marks an additional award to deliver 79SandCats specifically designed for the Israeli BorderPolice Patrol; a contract valued at $14 million. Asopposed to vehicles currently in use by IDF (IsraeliDefense Forces) such as the Armored HMMWV'e(190hp), Up-armored Storm Jeep (180hp) and ArmoredLand-rover "David" (122hp) the SandCat is equippedwith a 6.4L, V8 Turbo Diesel engine with 350hp outputcapable to reach a maximum speed of 130km/h.

The SandCat is based on an upgraded commercialoff-the-shelf Ford F-Series 4x4 chassis, adapted byOshkosh Defense for military use and fitted with Plasanadvanced Metal Composite & Ceramics Compositearmor. The SandCat provides a high level of protectionfor the crew while maintaining excellent maneuverabilitycapabilities.

The SandCat design is state-of-the-art in all aspects:exterior design, choice of materials, ergonomics,integration of advanced electronic systems, NBC safetysystems, suspended/collapsible seats are part of the Blastmitigation system and the advanced composite materialsagainst IEDs and road side bombs are providing highlevel of crew survivability.

GD UK Successfully Tests ASCOD SVArmour System

London -- General Dynamics UK has this weekcompleted a series of demanding trials at the highertest levels required by the FRES SV programme todemonstrate that its ASCOD SV contender isalready capable of delivering new levels ofprotection to British military personnel.

The ASCOD SV system design withstood a number ofattacks from the latest mine threats in its baseconfiguration. The system also enables enhanced levelsof blast protection to be fitted, enabling protectionagainst greater threats and providing the Army with theability to adapt rapidly to evolving operational scenario.

Commenting on the successful mine blast test, SteveRowbotham, General Dynamics UK Vice President,Advanced Projects and Technologies said, "This mineblast trial is a key milestone in demonstrating thatASCOD SV is the right answer for FRES SV. In additionto offering tonnes of capability and growth potential overthe next 30 years, General Dynamics UK hasdemonstrated this week that ASCOD SV offers tonnesmore protection to British military personnel today andin the future."

Mine threats are regularly encountered by Alliedforces on current operations in Afghanistan, sometimeswith devastating effect to vehicles and their occupants.This specific testing of the high levels of integratedsurvivability of ASCOD SV provides exacting evidenceof the vehicles ability to afford maximum protection tothe vehicle occupants.

These successful mine blast tests come only a monthafter the successful firing of the mandated CT40 CaseTelescopic Weapon System by turret provider LockheedMartin INSYS. In addition to the MoD benefitingsignificantly from the commonality between the FRESSV Scout and Warrior programmes provided byLockheed Martin's turret, the FRES SV crew will benefitfrom having the maximum space to do their job whileensuring maximum protection, thanks to an innovativeturret ring configuration and other features.

General Dynamics UK President and ManagingDirector, Sandy Wilson added: "We invested in thesetrials because protection is the essence of modernwarfare. This proven solution, built into ASCOD SVfrom the start, will ensure that FRES SV deliversexceptional levels of protection to British soldiers fromday one."

Future Technologies

Protonex Awarded US$1.49 MillionContract Extension by US Army

Protonex Technology Corporation has announcedthat it has received an incremental US$1.49 millioncontract award from the U.S. Army CECOM todeliver additional advanced portable battery

charger / APU fuel cell products.

This follows the US Army CECOM’s decision toexercise an option in its original contract with theCompany which was announced on 20 January 2010.

This award increases the total funded value of theoverall contract to $3.34 million and additional optionsremain within the contract which, if awarded, couldincrease the total value of the contract to $6.4 million.

Under the terms of this eight-month, phase twoprogram, Protonex is expected to deliver 30 additionalportable battery charger / APU products to the U.S.Army for field use. The M250-CX units will include allof the next-generation improvements developed duringthe phase one program, which include increased poweroutput, further integrated battery management andcharging capabilities, additional ruggedisation andreduced overall size and weight.

Training And Simulators

CAE Awarded Military Contracts Valuedat More Than C$58 M

Montreal -- CAE today announced a series ofmilitary contracts valued at more than C$58 million.Included in this total are several contracts tosupport the German armed forces with a range ofsimulator upgrades and training support services.

"CAE GmbH has a well-established presence inGermany and a long history of supporting the Germanmilitary with world-class simulation solutions andtraining services," said Martin Gagne, CAE's GroupPresident, Military Products, Training and Services."CAE's global footprint combined with our extensiveportfolio of products and services positions CAE well asmilitaries extend their use of modelling and simulation tosupport analysis, training and operations."

Germany's procurement office BWB (Bundesamt furWehrtechnik und Beschaffung) has contracted CAE toprovide a range of on-site training support services forflight simulation equipment. CAE's annual maintenanceand logistics support contracts with the German ArmedForces cover a range of flight simulators, including thosefor the Tornado and Eurofighter multi-role-combataircraft. CAE provides services at several sites inGermany and the United States to maintain almost everyflight simulator in service with the German ArmedForces.

CAE has also been awarded a contract to performsignificant upgrades on the German Air Force Tornadofull-mission simulators. CAE will integrate its CAESTRIVE-Radar simulation software into the Tornadosimulators to enable the German Air Force to performadditional training tasks in the full-mission simulators,including air-to-air radar, ground mapping radar, andterrain following radar functionalities.

Training And Simulators

First French Army simulator networkachieved over distance

Thales has completed a successful simulatornetwork between the French Army simulationfacilities in Le Luc (EALAT army aviation trainingcentre) and Canjuers (1st armoured regiment) forthe first time.

The objective was to verify the added value ofnetworked multi-site simulation and how this capabilitycould be implemented on a routine basis to supporttraining and operational preparedness, as well as specificpreparations for deployment to remote theatres.

The scenario involved three exercises that tiedtogether the EDITH helicopter crew tactical trainerplatform at Le Luc and the Leclerc main battle tank crewsimulators at Canjuers. The exercise comprised a patrolof two Tiger helicopters and an armoured platoon ofthree Leclerc MBTs and three VBL light armouredvehicles. A Thales team of high-level expertscoordinated the simultaneous operation of thesesophisticated technologies.

The exercise was conducted within a very shorttimeframe to minimise disruption to normal instructionprogrammes at the two training centres. After theexercise, the simulators were immediately madeavailable again to users, with regular instructionprogrammes able to continue as scheduled.

This exercise showed how remote simulation facilitiescan be coupled in a distributed multi-site networkconfiguration to enable different elements with differentoperational functions to cooperate in a combined forcesexercise.

Feedback from the users involved and observers frominfantry and artillery academies was particularly positive.This first exercise was used to...

• Propose descriptions of network configurations forvirtual distributed simulation exercises, inaccordance with the types of units under instruction

• Define the associated organisation and assess thetimeframes needed to plan and conduct this type ofexercise

• Identify requirements for regular combined forcestraining in terms of execution (detachment ofcombined forces)

• Envisage the use of this type of capability fordoctrine-related studies, in particular as part of theScorpion programme

Through this exercise, Thales has demonstrated itsability to add considerable value for military trainingestablishments as they prepare units for operationalengagements in a combined or joint forces context. Thiscapability will be further optimised with the addition ofspecially adapted databases, designed to allow units totrain collectively in readiness for the theatre ofoperations.

Training And Simulators

Saab Logs Order from the NorwegianArmy for Training System

Saab has received an order for a training system tothe Norwegian Armed Forces with a total value ofMSEK 69 (euro6.76 million).

The order is part of the system for supporting thetraining of units and soldiers which has been operationalfor several years. The Norwegian Army is working tocreate a realistic training environment which offers anaccurate picture of the reality that soldiers will faceduring missions where the reality is different to that inNordic countries.

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- Oshkosh Corporation announcedtoday that its Defense division received an awardvalued at more than $84 million from the U.S. ArmyTank-automotive and Armaments Command LifeCycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) tosupply more than 625 add-on armor kits for theMRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV).

Under the delivery order, Oshkosh will provideexplosively formed penetrator (EFP) protection kits forthe M-ATV. The refurbishment of the M113 vehicles will includereplacing old and damaged equipment with updatedcomponents, restoring the vehicles to pre-combatcondition.

“The M113 plays a significant role in both urbancombat and peacekeeping roles for militaries of at least44 countries around the world,” said Joe McCarthy, vicepresident and general manager of Heavy Brigade CombatTeam Systems for BAE Systems. “Replacing war tornequipment and providing our customers with the modernsystems they need to work on the battlefield is absolutelycrucial to the militaries worldwide that use this vehicle.”

The M113 is part of the largest family of armoredtracked vehicles in the world and includes more than80,000 vehicles worldwide with 40 variants. Oshkosh Defense Receives $158 MillionOrder for U.S. Marine Corps Heavy Fleet

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- Oshkosh Corporation todayannounced that its Defense Division received adelivery order to an existing contract valued atmore than $158 million from the U.S. Marine CorpsSystems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) for morethan 400 Logistics Vehicle System Replacements(LVSR).

The order brings the total number of LVSRs undercontract to nearly 1,300. With this latest order, LVSRproduction and delivery is extended into July 2011. Morethan 385 MKR18 cargo variants will be produced underthe order. The remaining variants will be MKR16tractors.

SANTA CLARA, California -- BAE Systems hasreceived a $10.7 million delivery order to provide1,197 Marine Corps Transparent Armored Gun

Shield (MCTAGS) Turret Assemblies. The TurretAssemblies facilitate the mounting and operation ofthe MCTAGS, which are used to protect servicemembers in close urban environments.

This delivery order is a modification to a previouslyawarded contract to provide MCTAGS TurretAssemblies, and accessory kits to the USMC over athree-year period. This modification brings the totalamount awarded to date to $85 million.

"BAE Systems' MCTAGS enable direct vision,situational awareness and target acquisition for vehiclegunners, commanders, and drivers while under armorprotection," said Mark Signorelli, vice president of NewVehicles and Amphibious Systems for BAE Systems."To date, more than 6,000 MCTAGS kits have beeninstalled on various military vehicles to provide addedprotection for the men and women in uniform."

The MCTAGS kits are compatible with various gunmounts and protection is provided from direct small armsfire and IED fragments. Both products are installed at theunit level and use existing mounting provisions.

Work under the delivery order will begin immediatelyat BAE Systems facilities in York, Pennsylvania, SantaClara, California and Fairfield, Ohio and is expected tobe complete in June 2010. The contract is managed bythe Marine Corps Systems Command(MARCORSYSCOM).

The order was issued under the Army’s Family ofHeavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) III contract.

The variants included in the order are M985A4 guidedmissile transporters (GMT), as well as M977A4electrical power plant (EPP) and large repair partstransporter (LRPT) cargo trucks. Production is expectedto begin in July 2010 and be completed in September2010. The GMT variant is designed to deliver and loadfour guided missiles to the launcher using an integratedcrane. The EPP cargo truck includes a chassis-mountedelectrical power plant, and the LRPT cargo truck is usedto store or transport heavy repair parts.

New Delhi, India -- Two of the world's mostpowerful howitzers will dominate the BAE Systems'presence at DefExpo in Delhi starting Feb 15th.

The BAE Systems FH77 B05 towed howitzer, andM777, the ultra light howitzer, will both be part of BAESystems' biggest ever presence at DefExpo.

BAE Systems will be co-located with Defence LandSystems India, the Mahindra and BAE Systems jointventure company which will soon be up and running.

M777, the world's lightest 155mm howitzer, will gracethe BAE Systems stand. Next to the M777, on theDefence Land Systems India stand, will be the FH77B05. This is the significantly upgraded and morepowerful big brother of the FH77 B02 in service with theIndian Army, which performed so admirably during theKargil conflict.

The BAE Systems FH77 B05 is bidding for the IndianArmy requirement for towed 52cal 155mm howitzers.

Trials with the India Army are due to start afterDefExpo. The new upgraded howitzer, FH77 B05, hasall round greater performance including increased rangeover the 39cal FH77 B02. It is intended that DefenceLand Systems India would have a significant andincreasing role in the production of FH77 B05, towardthe intended goal of Defence Land Systems Indiabecoming an artillery centre of excellence in India.

The M777 ultra light weight howitzer is now in theForeign Military Sales (FMS) process for a possible FMSpurchase between the US and Indian Governments.M777 is, by some considerable margin, the lightest155mm howitzer in the world, and the only one provenin battle. BAE Systems stands ready to support bothgovernments in a possible FMS purchase.

DefExpo will also see the launch of the MPVI (MineProtected Vehicle India). A mine protected vehiclespecifically designed for Indian conditions - the vehiclewill make its first public appearance at the show onDefence Land Systems India's stand. The result ofcollaboration between Mahindra and BAE Systems,MPVI brings battle proven life saving vehicle protectiontechnology to India in an affordable package, based onan indigenously assembled chassis and drive train. MPVIwill be built at Defence Land Systems India's Faridabadmanufacturing facility.

The UK's new tactical communications system,Falcon, will also be on display. Falcon will enter servicewith the British Army and Royal Air Force this year andis the world's first tactical comms system based on an allIP (Internet Protocol) open architecture. FALCONprovides secure deployable broadband voice, data andvideo, delivering the core of Network EnabledCapability. Anjani and BAE Systems recently announced a newpartnership that will see the two companies collaborate toproduce survivability and protection equipment forsoldiers and vehicles in India. Anjani and BAE Systemswill be displaying these capabilities on their stands.Anjani is bidding for the Central Reserve Police Force's(CRPF) requirement for 59,000 bullet proof vests. Ifsuccessful the vests will be produced by Anjani in Indiausing BAE Systems' Tensylon technology. The Tensylonballistic material, made from high performancepolyethylene fibre, provides superior performance and alighter-weight, cost-effective solution.

The total potential value of this single-award,five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ)contract is $387 million if all options are exercised. Theinitial award value is $56 million for the base year.

Under the contract, General Dynamics will providetechnical, management and professional engineeringsupport services for the procurement and fielding ofConstructive Training Systems (CTS). Missile maker Raytheon bidding for tankupgrade in India

New Delhi -- Raytheon Co, the world's biggestmissile maker, said on Friday it and partner Larsen& Toubro have bid for the contract to upgrade1,000 T-72 battle tanks in India.

Defence ministry officials said the government waslooking to spend at least $100 million in upgrading thetanks, which India bought from Russia three decadesago.

"The upgrade will increase the lethality of the T-72tanks," Fritz Treyz, vice president, Raytheon (Indiaoperations), told Reuters.

Ratheon has a tie-up with engineering andconstruction firm Larsen & Toubro in India.

The upgrades will include weapons and computersystems and enhance its operation by night.

India, one of the world's biggest arms importers, wantsto spend $50 billion buying and upgrading weapons overthe next five years.

Treyz said Raytheon will also launch the "fish hawk",an anti-submarine warfare weapon system next week inIndia.

NEW DELHI -- Raytheon Company and Larsen &Toubro Limited (L&T) have submitted an L&T-ledproposal to upgrade Indian Army T-72 tanks.

The announcement was made Tuesday at DEFEXPOIndia 2010 in New Delhi.

Under the proposal, Raytheon will provide infraredimaging sights and electronics to improve targetaccuracy and increase overall system lethality of T-72tank battalions. Raytheon has provided more than 20,000thermal sights in 15 countries.

Lockheed Martin Completes ProductionOf Its First Two JLTV TechnologyDevelopment Vehicles Ahead OfSchedule

Owego, N.Y. -- Lockheed Martin has completed,ahead of schedule, production of its first two JointLight Tactical Vehicles (JLTV), both newsix-passenger Infantry Carrier variants.

The vehicles will be delivered to the U.S. Army andU.S. Marine Corps for a year-long testing period as partof the Technology Development (TD) phase of the JLTVprogram.

As part of the 27-month TD contract awarded inOctober 2008, Lockheed Martin will deliver multipleJLTV variants and trailers to the Army and Marine Corpsfor the testing program, scheduled to begin in April ofthis year. The testing will be conducted primarily atAberdeen Test Center, MD, and Yuma Test Center inYuma, AZ.

"Successfully completing production of our first twoTD vehicles ahead of schedule is a major achievementfor our program," said Steve Ramsey, vice president ofGround Vehicles at Lockheed Martin. "The team'stireless efforts to design, assemble and test our previoussix operational prototypes culminated in the productionof technology development vehicles that are mature,low-risk and thoroughly tested."

In addition to the TD vehicles, the Lockheed MartinJLTV team has produced multiple test vehicles. Theteam's current JLTV family of vehicles includes fiveprototypes, all of which are in system test and haveaccumulated more than 70,000 combined miles:

London, UK -- General Dynamics UK has announcedthat its ASCOD SV candidate for the FRES SpecialistVehicle programme offers the option of earlydelivery for the heaviest direct fire variants, as aresult of its weight capability and turret design.

Chief Engineer John Abunassar said: "From day one,ASCOD SV offers full operation at 42 tonnes. Thismeans it can carry a 120mm gun easily withoutcompromising armour or performance. Our design for alarge turret ring is an advantage for the soldiers insidethat opens up the flexible option of an early path to theheaviest FRES SV vehicles."

ASCOD SV is capable of full operation at 42 tonnes.This performance is based on the technical maturity ofthe engine and transmission, which enable tremendousthrough-life growth. This is a significant advantage forthe programme, which is founded on a Common BasePlatform to satisfy the full FRES SV fleet of 1200-plusvehicles, including the heavy weight Direct Fire andbridge-layer.

The first FRES SV variants include the Scout, forwhich ASCOD SV has a turret designed to maximisespace for soldiers inside. The large turret-ring diameterof 1.7m is wider than older vehicles such as Warrior, andthe design increases space further by placing the mainammunition feed under armour outside the turret crewcompartment. This gives soldiers considerable room formodern display screens, comfort for long periods insidethe turret and ease of movement, even wearing full bodyarmour and future wearable systems. With the need for

military electronics ever-expanding on operations, theturret allows significant room for new systems to befitted without compromising the design of the vehicle.

ASCOD SV is designed to offer the option of an early,low-risk path to a Direct Fire variant. General Dynamicshas already fitted earlier variants of ASCOD in Europefor heavy direct fire roles. ASCOD SV's large turretdiameter is designed to be expanded to 2.1m, easilycarrying, for example, a 120mm gun on a 1.9m turretring. The vehicle's 42-tonne capability allows it to carrysuch a gun at this higher weight without compromisingfull performance or its ability to carry the full FRESarmour.

The turret design combines with the highpower-distribution capability of the General Dynamicsopen Electronic Architecture, which allowsnew-generation systems to be plugged in as required andpower generation to be expanded.

General Dynamics to Supply 250 RG-31MRAP Vehicles to the U.S. DefenseDepartment

LONDON, Ontario, Canada -- U.S. Marine CorpsSystems Command (MCSC) has awarded GeneralDynamics Land Systems-Canada a $227.4 milliondelivery order to produce 250 RG-31 Mk5E vehiclesfor its Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP)vehicle program.

General Dynamics Land Systems, the Canadiancompany’s parent corporation, is a business unit ofGeneral Dynamics.

Vehicle production will occur at BAE Systems LandSystems OMC of Benoni, South Africa. Deliveries willbe completed by October 2010.

This contract is in addition to the 1,402 RG-31 Mk5vehicles already supplied by General Dynamics underthe MRAP program. Separately, an additional 584RG-31s were previously ordered by the U.S. ArmyTACOM Life Cycle Management Command forroute-clearance vehicles.

Greg Combet, Minister for Defence Personnel,Materiel and Science today announced improvedfirepower for the ADF with contracts being signedfor a new anti-armour weapon capability.

“Defence has contracted SAAB Bofors Dynamics forthe supply of the M3 84mm Carl Gustaf anti-armoursupport weapon,” Mr Combet said.

“These new weapons provide an increased direct firesupport capability and will be employed by the Infantry,Special Forces and RAAF Airfield Defence Guards.

“Soldiers will appreciate the weight savings affordedby the M3 Carl Gustaf anti-armour weapon.

“The value of the contract with SAAB BoforsDynamics is approximately $10.5m which includes thesupply of weapons, spares and documentation to supportthe system,” Mr Combet said.

In addition, Mr Combet announced the contract withBAE Systems Australia to supply the enhanced sightingsystem for the newly acquired M3 84mm Carl Gustafanti-armour weapon.

“The value of the contract with BAE SystemsAustralia is approximately $16m which includes thesupply of sighting systems, spares, documentation andthree years of support for the system,” Mr Combet said.

“The enhanced sighting system includes thermaltechnology which provides the ADF with an increaseddirect-fire support capability when used with the M384mm Carl Gustaf anti-armour weapon.

“Furthermore, the new sight will also now permitengagements during day, night and adverse conditions,”Mr Combet said.

LAND 121 Phase 3 will replace a fleet of over 2,000Australian Defence Force field vehicles and trailers with

new vehicles procured across the program's MediumHeavy Capability component.

technology and driver vision enhancement. The kits alsowill support the addition of “silent watch” capability,which allows the M-ATV to operate C4ISR equipmentfor extended periods of time with reduced noise and heatsignatures from the vehicle.

Since January 2010, Oshkosh has been incorporatingthe M-ATV upgrades into the production process at bothits M-ATV production facilities, Oshkosh and the Spaceand Naval Warfare Systems Command will install theupgrade kits on vehicles already built.

Oshkosh has exceeded the accelerated M-ATVdelivery schedule for seven consecutive months. To date,the aggregate amount of awards Oshkosh has receivedfor 6,619 M-ATVs, upgrade kits, spare parts kits andaftermarket support is valued at more than $4 billion.Existing Oshkosh manufacturing facilities have availableproduction capacity for these M-ATV orders and allother Defense programs, including the U.S. Army’sFamily of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well asany surges in production.

TERRIER Engineer vehicle passes twokey milestones

Newcastle, United Kingdom. –- The BAE Systems`programme to deliver 60 TERRIER™ vehicles to theBritish Army has taken two important steps

forward.

Manufacture of the first TERRIER production hullbegan on 27 January at the company’s Newcastle plant.In a ceremony attended by senior staff from both theMoD Combat Wheels Group and BAE Systems’suppliers; visitors saw machining operations on the firstside plate commence.

Attendees at the production launch ceremony wereable to see first hand the Ј2m investment in process andmachinery which has been put in place to support Terrierproduction. Both have been completely overhauled toimprove build efficiency and maximise build quality,following lessons learnt from production of the heavierTitan and Trojan engineer vehicles, and themine-protected Panther command and liaison vehiclewhich was recently delivered to Afghanistan.

The first TERRIER hull will be used in mine blasttrials to demonstrate improved protection levelsintroduced by modifications resulting from experiencegained on other vehicles during operations in Iraq andAfghanistan. The complete hull will be available fortrials towards the end of this year. Assembly, integrationand test of the first production vehicle is scheduled tocommence in the first half of 2011.

Another important TERRIER development milestonewas successfully completed in December 2009 after twodemonstrator vehicles finished a comprehensiveperformance trial designed to demonstrate reliabilitygrowth. This two-month assessment consisted of a rangeof typical battlefield missions, including:

• Travelling 3300km, split between road, track andcross country going

• Excavating 135 pits for Warrior infantry fightingvehicles

• Digging 39 pits for AS 90 self-propelled howitzers• Moving 15,500 tonnes of spoil• Operating the vehicles remotely via a remote

Group Captain Paul Ridge, the leader of theManoeuvre Support Team responsible for the Terrierproject, added “The successful completion of themid-point reliability trials and the start of first productionhull are significant milestone achievements for both BAESystems and MoD. The Ј4.5m Turret Test Rig (TTR) will mimic fieldtesting of turrets for FRES Scout and Warrior upgrade bysubjecting them to “shake, rattle and roll” tests under

extremes of temperature. It will be able to take a turretthrough a 20-year life-span in 12-18 months.

The facility is closely modelled on BAE Systems’Mission Equipment Vibration Table (MEVT) inMinneapolis, built for the US FCS programme. Untilnow this was unique.

The vibration created by tracked vehicles makesattaining good reliability very challenging, particularlyfor electronic components. Testing in the field, whilenecessary, is time-consuming, expensive and inefficient.

Systems modelling and analysis manager VinceWhelan has relocated from Minneapolis where heworked on the MEVT to commission and use the newfacility. He explains:

“The TTR will replace a large proportion of field trialswith testing under tightly-controlled conditions. We willbe able to begin these trials much earlier in thedevelopment process so that field trials become a matterof verification rather than investigation. We will also beable to test and iron out any snags in suppliers’equipment earlier.

“Having the TTR where the design team is based willhelp us pinpoint – and therefore solve - the source of anyproblems much more quickly and easily, so that we andthe MoD can have confidence in meeting theirdemanding reliability targets.”

The rig was ordered four months ago and the facility isexpected to be commissioned in September this year andwill sit alongside the Systems Integration Facility whichis already being heavily used for work on FRES andWarrior upgrade.

U.S. Army Surges CROWS WeaponsStations to Afghanistan

PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. -- With the surge toAfghanistan underway, thousands of advancedCROWS weapon systems are taking flight tosupport U.S. Army forces in theater.

The CROWS systems mount what is essentially asmall turret on top of Army combat vehicles thatprovides soldiers the ability to employ their machineguns while using a control grip and video monitor frominside the protection of an armored vehicle. In response,PEO Soldier's PM Soldier Weapons office is ramping upits stateside logistics support and is in the process ofestablishing three new support sites in Afghanistan tomanage the fielding, soldier training, and sustainment ofthe XM153 Common Remotely Operated WeaponsStation (CROWS) systems.

"We are embedding the new CROWS support siteswith units that are farther afield," said Lt. Col. Michael

The complexity of the fielding is magnified by thesheer number of vehicles and vehicle variants that arenow employing CROWS; including MRAPS,HMMWVs, RG31A1 route clearing vehicle, the BuffaloEOD vehicle, the new MATVs, and others. Each of thesevehicles require customized vehicle integration kits tobring the units online.

Maj. Michael Pottratz, Assistant Product Manager forCrew-Served Weapons, manages the logistical support ofthe entire system. To accomplish his mission, Maj.Pottratz has devised a "building in a box" concept thatenables the Field Service Representatives (FSR) thatstaff the support sites to independently set up sites in amatter of days. All they need is a piece of real estate andsome fuel.

"We wanted to put together a custom kit for our FieldService Reps that enables them to get operational as soonas possible," said Maj. Pottratz. "All the componentsnecessary to establish the support site come in a singlecontainer: tools, equipment, computers, classroom spaceand materials, generators, air conditioners, even a GatorATV. Our FSRs can provide CROWS support within 48hours after offloading."

Once operational, FSRs begin comprehensive,hands-on training sessions with soldiers. Lt. Col. Ascurarecommends that every member of a unit receivestraining on the system, not just operators. CROWStraining provides leaders with critical knowledge on howbest to employ CROWS to support a diverse set ofmissions. With its day and night cameras, CROWSprovides target identification and surveillancecapabilities that are well beyond what small unit leadershave had previously.

"Soldiers learn how they can turn 'area weapons,' suchas the M2 machine gun, into precision engagementweapons," said Lt. Col. Ascura. "Beyond the guns,leaders begin to think about how to integrate the systemcapabilities into their tactics. In the past, soldiers had toperform the same functions with the naked eye from anexposed position in the turret. Thanks to CROWS, thosedays are coming to an end."

YORK, Pa. -- BAE Systems was awarded a contractfor $74 million by the U.S. Army Tank-AutomotiveCommand, Life Cycle Management Command topurchase long-lead items in preparation for thereset of 101 Bradley Operation Desert StormSituational Awareness (ODS SA) vehicles.

Under this contract, BAE Systems will procure 101

kits of 43 long-lead items and additional parts for thereset of Bradley ODS SA vehicles. The company will usethe acquired items in restoring the Bradley’s topre-combat condition and upgrading them to theimproved situational awareness capability.

YORK, Pennsylvania -- BAE Systems has received adelivery order from the U.S. Marine Corps SystemsCommand worth up to $90.6 million to provide 58U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) MineResistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles.

The U.S. SOCOM vehicle is one of several MRAPvariants based on the RG33 family of vehicles.

"These vehicles have been in service with our forcesin Iraq providing survivability against improvisedexplosive devices (IEDs), medium machine gun or smallarms fire and mine blast protection," said MarkSignorelli, vice president and general manager of NewVehicles and Amphibious Systems for BAE Systems."The entire RG33 team is proud to be able to providethese highly survivable vehicles to support our troops."

Plasan Announces Delivery of 5000M-ATV Armor Kits

BENNINGTON, Vermont -- Plasan, a global leader inthe field of combat-proven survivability and armorsolutions for vehicles, airborne platforms andpersonal protection, today announced that it hasdelivered 5000 armor kits for the U.S. Army`sMRAP All Terrain Vehicles (M-ATV) as asubcontractor to Wisconsin-based OshkoshDefense.

Since the beginning of the contract in July 2009,Plasan has met all of its delivery milestones for 7consecutive months.

On June 30 2009, the U.S. Department of Defenseawarded a $1.05 billion contract awarded to a team ledby Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Corporation and PlasanNorth America to produce 2,244 M-ATVs fordeployment in Afghanistan. Since that time, additionalorders for M-ATV armor kits have grown on a monthlybasis. In August, Plasan won an additional contract forthe delivery of 1,700 armor kits as an Oshkoshsubcontractor. These orders were supplemented withadditional contracts for 352 armor kits in September, 923in October, 1000 in November, 400 in December 2009,600 in January and a most recent addition of 1,460 armorkits in February 2010. The U.S. Department of Defensehas contracted Oshkosh and Plasan to produce a total of8,079 M-ATVs to protect troops serving in Afghanistan.

Plasan credits this rapid delivery capacity to theapplication of its modular Kitted Hull concept. Underthis concept, developed by Plasan, the armor parts can beproduced in parallel at multiple locations allowing theflexibility to increase and decrease capacity in minimumrisk. In addition this form of work leverages the OEMcapability for assembly and allows it better control on theprocess - the parts and components are sent to thevehicle's manufacturer where they are applied to thevehicle at the assembly line,. Kitted Hull technologyenables cost-effective assembly of armored vehicles,responding quickly to increases in production volume asthe needs of the end-users change.

Plasan uses subcontractors capable of manufacturingthe highest-quality composite components that conformto Plasan's exacting specifications. Under the contract, CTA International, anAnglo-French joint venture between BAE Systems and

Nexter Systems, will begin qualification in early 2011 ofcannon and ammunition for the Warrior CapabilitySustainment Programme (WCSP), the Scoutreconnaissance vehicle for the British Army and thefuture recce vehicle for the French Army.

Qualification is a rigorous process designed to provethat a weapon system is safe, effective and reliable. Boththe gun and ammunition will be subjected to freezing,baking, extremes of humidity and a series of "shake,rattle and roll" trials to demonstrate that they will operateunder every foreseeable circumstance. While the systemhas been passed for manned firing and considerable datahas already been collected, these trials will formally passthe system for use by the British and French armies.

While CTAI's 40mm Cased Telescoped Cannon andAmmunition (CTCA) was mandated for WCSP and theScout vehicle by the UK Ministry of Defence in March2008, the turrets and Scout chassis will be selectedthrough competition.

The UK and French ministries of defence have alreadyagreed a Government to Government TechnicalArrangement for a jointly-funded qualificationprogramme which will require some 15,000 rounds. Thefinal ammunition requirements will be defined once theprime contractors are announced in the next few weeks.

The next step will be the negotiation for the seriesproduction of the CT cannon. BAE Systems GlobalCombat Systems - Munitions (GCSM), under a licencegranted by CTAI, recently submitted a proposal to UKMoD for the production of series ammunition throughthe existing MASS munitions supply contract for the UKMoD. A licence will also be granted to Nexter Munitionsfor the provision of series ammunition for the FrenchDGA.

Background informationThe 40mm CTCA system's ease of use, ability to fire

accurately on the move, versatility and much-increasedpunch will give a major firepower boost to the Britishand French Armies.

The 40mm high explosive round has more than threetimes the explosive power of the 30mm Rarden currentlyfitted to Warrior and the Scimitar Vehicle which Scoutwill replace, while its armour-piercing projectile willpenetrate more than 140mm of steel armour.

The weapon system's innovative design takesconventional cannon and ammunition technology butpackages it in a novel space-saving way, by putting theprojectile inside its case and packing the propellantaround it - "cased telescoped".

This halves the length of the round and improves the

volumetric efficiency by 30 percent for a given level ofperformance. The CT cannon occupy the space of aconventional 25mm weapon inside a turret while givingthe performance of a 45-50mm system.

Ammunition is introduced to the gun, not by aconventional breach from the rear, but from a staticammunition feeder into a rotating breech via a hollowtrunnion. This design allows the breech to be wellforward of the crew, giving much better communicationsand "fightability" for vehicle crews.

The cylindrical ammunition is also much easier tostow and handle by automated systems. Reliability isincreased by eliminating more than half a conventionalcannon's most unreliable parts.

Harris Corporation Receives $78 MillionHF Radio Systems Order ForNext-Generation MRAP Vehicles

ROCHESTER, NY -- Harris Corporation, aninternational communications and informationtechnology company, has received an order valuedat $78 million to provide additional Falcon IIAN/VRC-104 high-frequency tactical radio systemsfor use in U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) MineResistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicles(M-ATVs).

This order was placed by the U.S. Marine CorpsSystems Command on behalf of the DoD's Joint MRAPprogram.

"Harris continues to provide the most reliable andsecure beyond line-of-sight radio technology to thiscritically important program," said Steve Marschilok,president, Department of Defense business, Harris RFCommunications. "Our radios deliver life-savingcommunication capabilities in the most dangerous ofmissions for all types of MRAP vehicles. We areproviding ongoing support for this program with ourhigh-performance tactical radios and unmatchedcustomer service."

The AN/VRC-104 is a vehicular transceiver/amplifierthat includes the AN/PRC-150(C), a Type-1high-frequency manpack radio. Harris HF radios are inwidespread use by all branches of the U.S. Departmentof Defense and allies around the world.

Boeing Receives Army ProductionContract for BCTM Increment 1

St. Louis -- Boeing today announced that it receiveda contract from the U.S. Army on Feb. 24 forlow-rate initial production of the initial brigade setof Brigade Combat Team Modernization (BCTM)Increment 1 capabilities.

Under the $138 million, fixed-price contract, a teamled by Boeing with support from Science ApplicationsInternational Corp. (SAIC) will equip the first InfantryBrigade Combat Team with these networked capabilities,along with associated system engineering and programmanagement support.

"These capabilities are needed today by soldiersconducting combat operations in Afghanistan andelsewhere," said Gregg Martin, Boeing Network &Tactical Systems vice president and BCTM programmanager. "We are excited to begin production and lookforward to working with our Army customer to get thesecapabilities, which reflect lessons learned from currentoperations, into the hands of soldiers as soon aspossible."

As the prime contractor, Boeing is responsible for thedevelopment and production of BCTM Increment 1.Low-rate initial production will allow for the capabilitiesto be fielded to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 1stArmored Division for initial operational test andevaluation beginning in 2011.

The contract award follows a successful productionreview by the Defense Acquisition Board in December.

A key element of BCTM, Increment 1 will providesoldiers with enhanced intelligence, surveillance, andreconnaissance capabilities, as well as increasedsurvivability and lethality. The capabilities that will beproduced under this contract award include:

• Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle: a robotic systemcapable of reconnaissance missions in dangerous ordifficult situations such as entering buildings, cavesand tunnels

• Class I Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV): a small,soldier-operated UAV that can hover forreconnaissance and surveillance while providingtarget acquisition

• Unattended Ground Sensors: multi-modesurveillance sensors for target detection, locationand classification, with an imaging capability foridentification

• Network Integration Kit: an integrated computersystem that hosts the latest communications andradio systems and battle command software,providing the initial network connectivity needed totransfer sensor and communication data.
