From the President

hat�a�great�Spring�we�have�had.�We�had�numerous�activities�includingsome�great�drives�to�interesting�destinations�as�well�as�our�two�driverseducation�events.�Now�that�Summer�has�arrived,�we�continue�to�plan

activities�throughout�the�Summer�and�Fall.�All�we�need�is�for�you�to�join�us!����We�started�our�Spring�off�with�a�drive�to�the�Arkell�Museum�in�Canajoharie.

Our�Zone�1�Representative�Botho�von�Bose�made�the�trip�down�from�Canada�tojoin�us�as�we�drove�around�the�Great�Sacandaga�Lake,�on�our�way�to�the�museum.Our�group�was�given�a�private�tour�of�the�museum�where�we�learned�about�themagnificent�artwork�as�well�as�the�history�of�the�Beechnut�company.�Our�nextdrive�was�out�to�Utica�to�see�the�amazing�car�collection�of�Alan�Rosenblum.�Wewere�in�awe�of�the�quality�and�diversity�of�cars�Alan�had�in�his�collection.�Thiswill�be�one�place�we�will�surely�visit�again!�In�May,�we�headed�to�the�southernBerkshires�of�western�Massachusetts�and�took�a�short�hike�to�Bash�Bish�Falls,the�highest�waterfall�in�Massachusetts.�From�there�we�drove�northwest�toChatham�where�we�toured�the�facilities�of�the�Equine�Advocates�Safe�HomeEquine�Rescue�&�Sanctuary.�Susan�Wagner,�the�president�of�the�organization,welcomed�our�group�and�gave�a�brief�talk�about�their�mission.�Then�we�had�thepleasure�of�interacting�with�some�beautiful�animals,�while�we�walked�the�grounds.�In�the�beginning�of�June�we�headed�back�to�Massachusetts�to�tour�the�art

gallery�of�local�artist�Andrew�DeVries.�Andrew�talked�to�members�about�thebronze�sculpting�process�and�showed�us�some�of�his�amazing�sculptures.�We�finished�off�the�month�of�June�with�our�Annual�Picnic�and�Concours.�We�had�30�cars�and�over�70�people�in�attendance�this�year.�Which�is�by�far�the�largestturnout�we�have�had�in�a�long�time.�We�had�a�nice�mix�of�newer�members,�long�standing�members�and�even�a�few�brand�newmembers�(one�even�joined�PCA�the�day�beforethe�picnic).�I�ask�that�you�look�at�our�upcomingcalendar�of�events�and�make�plans�to�join�us�onone�of�our�many�drives�coming up�this�summer.�As�many�of�you�know,�we�have�reduced�the

number�of�driver�education�events�we�are�hostingthis�year.�Despite�the�reduction,�we�had�twogreat�days�at�Lime�Rock�Park�in�April.�Ouradvanced��day�on�Friday�followed�by�a�begin-ners�day�on�Saturday.�The�turn�out�for�theadvanced�day�was�good,�but�Saturday’s�attendance�was�outstanding.�The�greenrun�group�was�sold�out�and�we�had�a�waiting�list�of�20�green�students.�Weshared�the�two�days�with�the�Club�at�Lime�Rock�and�in�talking�to�both�advancedand�novice�drivers,�most�everyone�was�pleased�with�the�way�the�event�ran.�OurCups�and�Saucers�Advanced�DE�at�Watkins�Glen�in�May,�was�well�received�thisyear.�We�had�over�80�drivers�in�attendance,�and�they�all�had�plenty�of�tracktime.�Many�drivers�took�advantage�of�the�professional�coaching�from�ScottLeader�of�Speed�Secrets.�We�are�looking�at�adding�another�date�at�Watkins�Glennext�year,�which�we�will�share�with�our�friends�in�the�Central�New�York�Region.Our�region�had�a�great�showing�at�the�Zone�1�48�Hours�of�Watkins�Glen�driverseducation�event.�We�had�16�members�in�attendance,�with�ability�levels�rangingfrom�first�timers�right�through�to�seasoned�instructors.�We�had�two�fantastic�days�oftrack�time�(instructors had�three),�with�only�one�session�getting�rain.�Saturday

The Event Two-day event. New course each day; Parade Competition Rules (PCRs) are used for classifying & trophies. Men’s & Women’s parallel classes; Must compete both days to trophy; Team Challenge for All PCA Regions; Registration opens 8 AM sharp; First car off approx 9:15 AM; Porsche cars only; Dinner on Saturday night after the event.

night�a�number�of�us�got�together�at�the�Seneca�Lodge�for�dinner and�sharing�stories�of�our�day�on�the�track.�I�am�looking�forward�to�seeing�more�of�our�members�at�drivers�education�events�throughout�the�rest�of�the�year.�I�would�like�to�thank�all�the�members�who�donated�to�the�Give�2�the�Troops�

charity.�Our�region�was�able�to�raise�over�$900�for�this�worth�while�cause.�Wehave�passed�the�scrapbook�on�to�the�next�region�and�it�will�make�its�way�acrossthe�country�and�back�as�PCA�tries�to�reach�the�goal�of�raising�$25,000.I�hope�everyone�enjoyed�their�4th�of�July�holiday�weekend.�I�hope�to�see�you�at

Hudson Champlain Porsche Club Weekend Getaway in Lake Placid, NY

Saturday & Sunday, September 18th & 19th, 2010

The Hudson Champlain Region PCA has planned a wonderful overnight trip to thebeautiful and historic town of Lake Placid, for our members.

New York's Olympic Region is one of the great play-grounds of North America, offering year-round fun andexcitement. Nestled in the northeastern portion of theAdirondack wilderness of New York State, the ruggedmountain scenery, heavy winter snows, and a pleasantsummer climate combine to make the Lake Placidregion a popular tourist year-round resort. TheOlympic facilities used for the 1932 and 1980 OlympicWinter Games, Highfalls Gorge and other tourist attractions make this area fabulous for vacations!

The club has reserved 30 rooms at the Crowne PlazaResort Hotel Lake Placid; the ideal, year-round resortdestination when you're looking for unsurpassed service,

spectacular views of Mirror Lake and Whiteface Mountainand an unmatched range of amenities in the Adirondacks.

The town of Lake Placid is within walking distance fromthe hotel and offers a variety of restaurants, shoppingand art galleries. The club has also scheduled a few scenicdrives around the various lakes and mountains, east andwest of Lake Placid. One scenic tour will include a driveup the Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway,almost to the summit of the 5th highest peak in theAdirondack Mountains. There will be an elevator rideto the actual summit for a breathtaking panoramic viewof the Adirondack high peaks.

Contact Crowne Plaza Resort Lake Placid directly to make their hotel reservations.The Porsche Club has reserved 30 traditional rooms for 90 days (by July 30) at a spe-cial club rate of $179.00 plus 10.75% tax. Porsche Club members may phone in reser-vations by calling 518-523-2556 or 1-800-874-1980. You must identify yourself as theHudson Champlain Porsche Club member to receive the group rate.

The club will also gather for a group dinner at the resort on Saturday evening at aprice of $50 per person (includes tip and taxes). The dinner reservation and paymentmust be sent to Keith Antal at 13 Knollwood Drive, Valatie, NY 12184. Checks shouldbe made out to HCP-PCA.
