Convertible Top Dressing, a clear water-proofing and dressing for convertible tops, is available for immediate shipment.

This material may be applied with a paint brush, soft pad, or can be sprayed. It will penetrate the fabric and render it waterproof. One quart contains enough solution for two applications. One application is sufficient for moderate climates. Where severe climates are encountered, it Is advisable to apply two coats. It is recommended that old fabrics be cleaned well before treatment.

All owners of Hudson convertible cars, and especially those who own a New Hudson convertible, will want this material because it makes convertible tops wear longer by protecting against snow and rain, sun and salt air. This material was subjected to unusually adverse conditions during the war, particularly in the South Pacific area, with marked success. It is also ideal for water-proofing and preserving tents, hats, shoes, trousers, coats or anything made of cloth, canvas, leather, wood or cement. Dealers will want the gallon size to build up additional profits by offering Convertible Top Dressing as a Service item in the shop.

There is a ready market for this material, and dealers should be sure that all owners of Hudson Convertible cars are informed of its availability.

More than one-half of the states in this country require the installation of 1949 license plates not later than March 1, 1949; therefore, car owners will be more conscious of their license plates at this time than at any time during the year. This situation creates a great opportunity to sell this item in large volume during the next sixty days.

As you know, the Custom License Plate Frame is made of solid brass, which is heavily chrome plated. Glass, completely cushioned in rubber, covers the license plate, and a steel backing plate is employed to support the assembly. These Frames are particularly suitable for all New Hudson Commodore models, but may also be sold to owners of New Hudson Super series cars. Obviously, the best time to sell this item is when the owner takes delivery on a new car, but a car in for service presents another opportunity that should not be missed.

This kit consists of twenty Schrader Glove Compartment Tire Pressure Gauges -- HS-302103 -- at the regular price, and one Master Tire Pressure Gauge free of charge. The regular gauges come packed in counter display cartons containing five gauges each as well as hand out folders, a booklet on the Comparative Air Loss System, counter display card and dealer brochure.

With the advent of "low pressure" tires, it is more important now than ever before that tire air pressures be checked at frequent intervals. Your attention is invited to Technical Bulletin +21 to dealers, dated June 24, 1948, which gives full instruction on tire maintenance and states in particular that "more tires are ruined by incorrect inflation pressure than from any other cause, therefore they should be checked fre-quently with an accurate tire gauge."

It is therefore necessary that car owners have an accurate Glove Compartment Gauge with which to make a frequent check of their tires. It is no less important that dealers have a precision instrument for checking their own air service equipment at short intervals. This free Master Gauge is guaranteed accurate for 18 months by the manufacturer. The Certificate of Accuracy, which accompanies this gauge, includes two free factory recalibrations within the 18 month period.

Hudson Wind and Rain Deflectors clamp to the forward edge of the front door vent wing and are made of clear plastic. Ribs and a rain gutter on the bottom edge permit the opening of the vent wing during rain storms and prevent water dripping inside of the car.

Hudson Wind and Rain Deflectors are packed individually in display cartons with twenty-four (24) cartons to 'a shipping case. The carton is so constructed that it can be used for display purposes wherever a flat surface is available.

Direction Indicators are now available for installation on 1947 and previous model cars. This accessory is enjoying increased Owner acceptance and in city traffic, is becoming a safe driving necessity. As stated in our letter of June 3, 1949, several States have passed regulations that all cars must be equipped with Direction Indicators and it is now indicated that many other States will soon pass a similar law.

The new Direction Indicator Kit is not only applicable to all past model Hudson cars, but can be installed on all other cars as well. There are thousands of cars on the road today not equipped with Direction Indicators (Turn-Signals) which represents a tremendous poten-tial market.

Install a set of the new Direction Indicators on a 1947 Hudson. Let your Owner of past model cars observe the neat, attractive signal light installation. Hudson LOCK-EASE, a graphited lock fluid, is now available for immediate shipment. This new material is the finest product known for the protection of locks against rust, freezing and wear, because it seals out moisture from the working parts. After application, sticking is also prevented and the locks work easier.

This material contains colloidal graphite which is graphite ground to microscopic size and which can only be applied with a fluid carrier. It has a metal plating action and contains a rust inhibitor which assures long-lasting protection of look mechanisms. Hudson LOCK-EASE will loosen frozen locks and works equally well in hot or cold climates.

Car door looks should be lubricated periodically by applying Hudson LOCK-BASE to the lock plate and then by raising the lock bolt to the look position and squirting the oil through the opening with the nozzle turned toward the inside of the door, This will ensure coating of the locking control link. All lock parts should be generously coated with Hudson LOCK-EASE.

Reference is made to Accessory Bulletin No. 19 dated June 13, 1949 announcing new Plastic Seat Covers. Due to circumstances beyond our control, it is necessary to cancel this program.

Unforeseen difficulty was encountered in the process of applying the colored plastic to the rayon yarn, from which the material is woven. The material as received from the mill was not satisfactory and as a consequence, it was refused.

The above condition could not be corrected in less than 60 days; therefore, we have cancelled our Purchase Order.

We firmly believe there is a good market for Plastic Seat Covers that will meet Hudson standards. Coincident with the announcement of the next series cars, we will advise you of an outstanding Seat Cover Program that will excel in quality, priced to sell, yet return a substantial Dealer profit.

We have had an exceptionally fine response to our seat cover program and we intend to maintain our present high position in the industry in this respect. To be of further service to Hudson Owners who have purchased seat covers, we are listing below cleaning methods that have been prescribed by our Engineering Department:

RAYON TWILL

The best method for removing dirt and soil from these seat covers is by sponging with Hudson Fabric Cleaner which is available in pints (HS-209734) and gallons (HS-206226). This material also does a fine job in removing stains from upholstery, draper-ies, woolens, rugs, suits, dresses, and light fabrics.

If the covers become soiled to the point where a thorough dry cleaning is desirable, owners should consult a reputable dry cleaning establishment in their locality. Certain stains require certain types of cleaning fluids. Therefore, owners should advise the dry cleaner the type of stain or soil so that the dry cleaner can use proper cleaning materials to do the job. Owners of-Hudson Rayon Twill Seat Covers should be warned against the careless use of dry cleaning solvents which may be inflammable or contain toxic solvents.

CUSTOM MATTING--DELUXE MATTING

Hudson Matting Seat Covers may be cleaned with plain water where only slightly soiled; however, if the covers are greasy, Hudson Hurricane Auto Shampoo (HS-2071.97 - 2 oz. package), (HS-207198 - 13 oz can), (HS-207199 - 4 lb. can), Is highly recommended for removing such stains. In this case, it would be well to mix a small amount of Hudson Hurri-cane Auto Shampoo in a pan of water to create a lather. It would then be desirable to use a small hand brush, dipping It into the suds only, and then scrubbing the covers. Use of only the lather eliminates the possibility of getting too much water into the fabric which could cause a mold condition.

Please be sure that all personnel involved in the selling or servicing of Hudson Seat Covers are informed of this information and we request that all dealers pass on this informa-tion to their customers at every opportunity.

HUDSON ANTI-FREEZE IS AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT TO DEALERS. As mentioned in our Accessory Bulletin No. 12, dated April 28, 1949, we have an unlimited supply of this high quality material this year and are able to supply all of our dealers' require-ments. One-gallon cans and 54-gallon drums are available.

Distribution instructions have been mailed to all Zones setting forth a new procedure in which our supplier will warehouse the material in your locality this season. We can be of better service to our dealers through this method of distribution.

Cold weather is here in some areas of the country and it will only be a short time before a full-fledged Winter will be upon us. A sudden cold snap - The cars rush in - Anti-Freeze stock goes down FAST - So Don't be caught short. If you have not ordered your season's requirements, or-der NOW and BE SAFE.

TRANSPORTATION CHARGES WILL BE ALLOWED all dealers who order AntiFreeze on the regular Monthly Parts Order Pad. All shipments of AntiFreeze from supplier's warehouse will be shipped freight collect. Shipments from Zone warehouses will go forward freight pre-paid. The Zone will issue credit to the dealer upon receipt from the dealer of paid freight bill covering the Monthly Parts Order Pad shipment when made direct from supplier's warehouse to dealer collect.

Dealers can effectively overcome competition from chain stores and service stations by the use of painted windows, newspaper advertising, etc. which advise Hudson customers and the gen-eral public that the Hudson Dealership is Anti-Freeze Headquarters.

Anti-Freeze Protection Charts in the new chrome-coat finish have been shipped to all Zones and Distributors for redistribution to all dealers. These charts show proper mixtures of Hudson Anti-Freeze with radiator capacities. Each chart is equipped with a metal eyelet so that it may be hung up in the Service Department of the dealership. Sufficient copies have been furnished so that every dealer should receive a copy.

Inventories should be watched carefully so that when your stock indicates that re-ordering is necessary, you may place additional commitment at the earliest possible date.

Correspondence from the field indicates that some dealers are installing a Hudson-Fram Oil Filter Cartridge, SP-302496, in Hudson Oil Filters, HA-161040 and HA-300560

The Engineering Department states that if this practice is being followed, IT IS DOUBTFUL THAT ANY FILTERING OF THE OIL IS TAKING PLACE.

In the Hudson Filters, HA-161040 and HA-300560, the oil flow is froM the INSIDE of the cartridge OUT and the uncased filter material serves as a seal around the inlet tube. When the Hudson-Fram Cartridge, SP-302496, is used, the inside diameter of the filter cartridge cas-ing, being larger than the inlet tube of the filter, allows the oil to flow between the tube and car-tridge without passing through the filter material.

The cartridge SP-302496 is designed for use with filters HA-302494 and HA-302495 which carry the oil flow from the OUTSIDE of the cartridge IN.

We list below the proper cartridge to be used with oil filters:

All Zones, Distributors, and Dealers should continue, therefore, to stock both cartridges so that dealers may service Hudson Filters with the proper type.
