REPRODUCTION Is the live processes that let living things create other

living things similar to them.

Human beings reproduce by sexual reproduction .

Humans are viviparous mammals

Primary sexual features Male and female reproductive cells are made in the

male and female reproductive systems.

Primary sexual features are the traits that characterisethe male and female reproductive systems.

Secondary sexual features Girls develop breast and their hips get wider.

Boys get deeper voices, they get facial hair and theirshoulders get wider.

Secondary sexual features develop during puberty

Reproductive cells Reproductive cells or sex cells are the responsabile for

carrying out the funtion of reproduction.

-Ovule: is the female reproductive cell.They matureevery month since puberty.

-Sperm: is the male reproductive cell.They are constantly produced since puberty.

Female reproductive systems It is made up of:

-Ovaries: they produce ovules.

-Uterus: a foetus develops inside it.

-Fallopian tubes: they take the ovule from theovaries to the uterus.

-Vagina: it is the canal that connects the uterus to theoutside of the body.

-Vulva: it is the outer part of the female reproductivesystem.

Male reproductive sistem It is made up of:

-Testicles: they produce sperms.

-Urethra: it is the cannal that take the orine and thesperm outside the body.

-Vas deferens: they are two thin tubes that connectsthe testicles to the urethra.

-Seminal vesicles and prostate: they are glands.

-Penis: is the outer part of the male reproductivesystem.

Fertilisation Is when the ovule and sperm join in one of the

fallopian tubes.

Menstruation occurs when the ovule is not fertilised.

Development of an embryo It has three parts:

-The placenta: it takes nutrients and oxygen from themother´s blood and gives it to the baby.

-The umbilical cord: it connects the embryo to theplacenta.

-The amniotic sac: it is a membrane filled with fluid.

Development of a foetus After three months: the embryo has all its organs

formed.

After five months: the mother can feel the baby’smovements.

After nine months: the baby is ready to be born.

Child birth Is when the baby leaves his mothers womb.

It has three parts:

-Labour: rhythmic contractions dilate the uterus.

-Birth: the baby leaves the womb through the vagina.

-After birth: the placenta is expelled from themother’s womb.
