Course Topics

• This course consists of five modules that you will find in the Content area on D2L.

• Each module contains 3-4 chapters and will be visible for 3 weeks at a time. Each module has a quiz at the end.

Final Exam

• Upon the completion of the five modules, there will be a final exam that will be available during the final two weeks of this course.

• This exam will be comprehensive and will cover all course material.

Case Project

• Each student will complete their own case project based on one of the Harvard Business Review cases that are located in the Content area. These case projects are quite involved and may take 2-3 weeks to complete correctly.

Case Project

• These cases are based on real-life events surrounding human resource problems and are intended to give you a different perspective on the critical decision-making skills necessary for solving common (and some uncommon) human resource issues within organizations.

Class Participation

• Interaction with other students and myself via the D2L discussion board is an integral part of this course.

• Reading and responding to others’ discussion posts is a conduit to understanding other people’s viewpoints on the issues surrounding human resource management.

Course Expectations

• This will not be an “Easy A.”

While this is an online course, it is meant to replace a 3 hour per week (45 hour total) normal semester-long class that is part of the Management major core requirements. As such, this course will take a considerable amount of your time and effort.

Please don’t make the mistake of minimalizing the amount of effort needed just because this course is online.
