Each student• Each student in the division will choose a basic human right
(United Nations – Convention on the Rights of the Child) and visually represent this right on a small canvas board
• All canvas boards will be collected and displayed at the Bomber Stadium in May culminating in a helicopter pictorial of all these combined mosaic pieces

The Canvas Board
• A small canvas board which lends itself well to working with the following mediums: – Pencil, gel pens, black markers– Crayola or Sargent Markers, – Pencil Crayons (push hard)– Oil Pastels – Collage: gluing of pictures, and – watercolour & acrylic paint (if
available)– Construction paper & Vellum– And your inspiration! • Crafted from 100% cotton canvas
• Double primed and adhered with an acid-free adhesive made from a cellulose by-product that is an ecologically renewable resource

Art Basics
Draw, Collage, Colour, Print
• Choose the art tools you would like to use
• Create a visual art piece by drawing, collaging, or creating WORDS that you print and add to the board
• Gather pictures or models to use as you draw.
Basic Tools• Some supplies will be
available like scissors and glue• You can bring your own too!
Pencils, erasers, ribbons, material, scrapbooking ends…. – Have them all ready on the day
you create the art piece
Your goal is create this piece in 68 minutes! That’s one class.

Simple Ideas• Word Art - Download a boy or girl
silhouette and within the silhouette add words related to the human right. – If you can take a picture of
yourself and make it into a silhouette
• Use a pen to write on the picture.
• Or create your own words or your own quote for outside of the picture and add it with your name to the art piece

Collaging, colouring & poetry
• Collage or colour the background based on the human right you’ve chosen

• Glue a piece of scrapbooking/construction paper to the background
