PharmacoEconomics & Outcomes News 346 - 19 Jan 2002 Hungarian hospitals facing drug stop-supply The supply of drugs to the majority of Hungary’s 160 hospitals may be stopped shortly unless the government can commit more funds to pay hospital expenses, according to the BMJ. The threat comes from the country’s major pharmaceutical wholesalers. A Pharmaceutical Wholesalers Association report estimates that more than Ft3 billion * ($US10.7 million) is owed by as many as 120 hospitals. The association is calling for urgent action from the government to change the current system of hospital financing.
