While Budapest has plenty tokeep you occupied, it is alsoblessed with a truly breathtak-ing region just 30 minutes tothe north. The Danube Bend the point at which the great riv-er takes a sharp turn southwards is a captivating place of forest-covered hills and quaint towns.Its tranquil beauty has attractedwriters, painters and sculptors.The views from the surrounding

hills are as beautiful as any youwill find in the world. The firsttown you will reach on the bendis Szentendre (St. Andrew).This was once a popular spotfor migrant Serbs fleeing theOttomans, and several 17th-cen-tury Serb Orthodox churches re-main.
