WELCOME TO ALL COMPETITORS AND SUPPORTERS OF HUNTS KART RACING CLUB. To our APRIL race meeting which is the 4TH round of the 2013 HKRC Club Championship. A quarter of the 2013 Championship already upon us. Lets hope that good weather finds us from the April weekend onwards

The FLAGSHIP Club rounds of 2013 are rounds 6 and 7 which are incorporated into the EAST ANGLIAN TROPHY RACE WEEKEND. This is the 5th year of running this event which has increased in popularity year on year. For 2013 the weekend will offer Friday practice and also Saturday round 6 on circuit two and Sunday round 7 on circuit one. A challenge for all competitors, with the combined points to determine the EAST ANGLAIN TROPHY WINNER for 2013. See advert in programme for more information.

In preparation for the event Saturday practice will give an opportunity to drive circuit two as part of the practice session offered to enable the competitors to re-familiarize or even learn the circuit in preparation for the June race weekend

From April to October start times will be 10am for both Saturday and Sunday with race day Sunday offering 3 heats and a final

Overall there are 12 rounds with the 11 highest scoring rounds to count. The Championship rounds have increased for the 2013 with only AUGUST 2013 being a non Club Championship round as HKRC hosts the MAXXIS TKM FESTIVAL

THANKYOU TO ALL for supporting HKRC throughout 2012 which has shown that we are the fastest growing Club in the UK. Our organisation, value for money and friendly atmosphere has brought new faces to the club on a monthly basis. In addition thanks go to all the HKRC Officials that help towards the running of each race weekend. We are all sure that 2013 will be even better.

2013 MEMBERSHIP PACKS ARE AVAILABLE – The Club looked at price increases for 2013 and decided that we can hold the same prices as 2012. Membership packs are available for collection during the race weekend.

For any person that wishes to take photographs of the racing please sign on in race control, you will be given a tabard to indicate permission has been given. The photographs are not to be used for resale as HKRC has an official photographer. PIXELERO

GRID and PARC FERME PASSES are to be used. For 2013 these passes will double as HKRC 2013 Membership passes When entering the single grid or Parc Ferme areas only mechanics with passes will be permitted into these areas. ONE PASS per driver.

Use of GALLERY - No under 16’s are permitted onto the gallery and only mechanics with passes are permitted to use this area and a reminder that smoking is strictly not permitted

MSA Kart Sport Council have confirmed that kart engines are not permitted to be started in the paddock and only started in designated areas as confirmed by the Kart Club.

HKRC have two areas. One being the area outside parc ferme and secondly on the grid. Kart engines cannot be started on the trolley.

At drivers briefing there will be checks carried out on parent or guardian attendance on race day. From the January meeting onwards the MSA steward will be notified and appropriate action taken as per 2013 MSA Blue Book.

MSA require Additional documentation must be presented when a kart PG licence holder cannot be present with the driver. Please ensure that the entrants representative is in possession of the

KART PG LICENCE TOGETHER WITH THE COMPLETED PARENTAL CONSENT AUTHORISATION FORM.

If competitors require detailed race summary sheets for their race day, there is now a charge of 50p per set. The money raised will be shared between the HKRC nominated charity for 2013 which is KARTFORCE-KARTING FOR THE INJURED TROOPS. 75% of the money raised will be toward the charity and 25% of money raised will help to cover the costs of the paper.

CHANGES IN THE MAIN PADDOCK AREAPitbay enquires must be sent via email to [email protected]

From January 2013 to March 2013 there have been changes to the layout in the main paddock area. These changes will allow HKRC Club members to acquire a dedicated pit space for 2013 and ensures that the paddock is used more effectively.

The paddock is not for general car parking, the willows side of the track and the grass area on the other side of the tree line.

Patience and cooperation from everyone would be appreciated. One of the Main changes is the NUMBERING SYSTEM of the bays. There will be HKRC officials to assist during the race weekend

ALL PITBAYS ON THE MAIN PADDOCK HAVE NOW BEEN RENTED FOR THE 2013 SEASON

There is only free pit bay space on the WILLOWS side of the track

PARKING IN THE PADDOCK AREA. The parking in the paddock area layout has changed to help improve the use of space and take into account the changes with the grid and parc ferme area. Please ensure you park considerately. Cars will not be permitted to be parked in the main paddock area.

Any competitor parking deemed not to be appropriate will be asked to move. AND IF SAFE ACCESS to SITE and PADDOCK is compromised for emergency services if required then the meeting will have to be stopped.

In addition levelling will be carried out on both sides of the paddock to assist on movement of karts to the assembly area and grid.

ALL PITBAY holders issued with a permit must display to enable the Club to ensure that competitors are parked in their correct bays. The permits will be handed out by HKRC officials or can be collected in race control over the race weekend..

VACANT PIT BAYS can be rented for £20 per weekend, please visit race control for availability. If anyone is parked on a bay that has not be hired, then they will be asked to move or Pay for Hire if the bay is not to be used for the weekend.

TYRE DISPOSAL. Tyres are still being left on site at race meetings circuit. The costs incurred for disposal will now be passed onto the Competitors.

In MARCH there was Again an increased number of tyres left in the paddock. Over 100 !!Please take the tyres with you or pay a £3 fee per set of tyres to any of the kart traders or the maintenance team who will be able to dispose of them.

During the weekend HKRC Officials will be walking around the paddock checking on tyre disposal.

IMPORTANT NOTICES INCLUDING HKRC OFFICIAL SR’S• DOGS are not permitted to be walked around the paddock during practice or race day. All DOGS must be

kept with the pitbay area of the owner. When walking your dogs PLEASE ensure you clear any dog fouling. Dogs must be kept with the pit space allocated during practice and race day (SR 25) Thankyou for your cooperation.

• NO DOGS are permitted to be walked on the circuit, only the surrounding area. This is due unfortunately to the trust of dog owner being broken by not clearing up. This is not what the Club wanted , but must have this in place for the competitors

• No Parking in unallocated pit bays, you will be asked to move.

• Motorised bikes/scooters are not allowed to be used in the paddock, track, or car park areas around the site over the race weekend. Push bikes, skateboards etc. may not be used from 8.30a.m until 6 p.m. on any day where practice, either unofficial or official, or racing is taking place. (SR 24)

• Drivers must place their kart on the grid before the end of the previous race. Tyre changing is only allowed in the assembly area. When grid gate is closed any driver not in position will be placed at the back of the grid. (SR 21)

• Engine starting bay sited next to parc ferme can be used to start engines prior to racing. Engines must not be run for longer than 10seconds with rear of kart facing the fence. Limitation of engine running is restricted due to noise level and planning restrictions. (SR 32)

• Any footage from Cameras fitted to karts on race day will not be accepted for any driving or appeal situations with the Clerk of Course or Stewards of the meeting.

• No fluids are to be disposed of onsite using the drains or any ground area on site.

• RACE DAY-TYRES used for three lap practice will be the marked as race tyres for the race.

Rotax 177 Inter ClubsSimiliar to TKM, Rotax 177 have struggled to get good grid numbers over the past couple of years. To prevent this in 2013 there is an Inter Club Championship at the following tracks –

12.7. Kart engines must not be run in the pits or paddock.

12.7.1. Kart engines may only be started in an area designated by the organisers, which shall include the live area of the circuit. When starting engines the driver must be seated correctly in the seat with all four wheels of the kart on the ground. Exceptionally non-centrifugalclutch classes may start their engines, in the same designated area, with the kart positioned on a trolley in a position that will not endanger others.

12.7.2. Gearbox karts may run their engines in an area designated as above by using suitable blocks under the rear part of the chassis.

12.7.3. Any kart engine started in a designated area (12.7.1), other than in the live areas of the circuit, must not run for more than 10 seconds.g

Clothing 13.1.2. Full face helmets are mandatory.

Rear Bumper 17.8.9. Have any studs with more than 3 threads protruding from the rear of the kart covered with appropriate nuts, caps or suitable protective cover.

Short Circuit Bodywork 17.26.1. The plates must be square with sides of 25cm.

17.26.2. The numbers must be 20cm high with a minimum stroke of 3cm.

17.27.3. The numbers must be of the ‘Classic’ type as shown below and represented with an Arial type font: 1–2–3–4–5–6–7–8–9–0.

Weight 17.29.6. For classes that include a minimum driver weight only mandatory items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required by 13.1-13.3, are to be included when the Driver is weighed.

Batteries 18.5.3. Engine starter batteries where permitted must be fitted to a main chassis rail or within the confines of the main chassis frame. and shall be placed on the chassis in an area located to the side of the seat opposite the engine and behind the central strut or alternatively mounted on or behind the seat. If Lithium batteries are used, they must carry the appropriate “EC” and markings.

Transmission 18.8.5. Effective protection must be provided over the top and both sides of the exposed transmission chain (or belt) and sprockets, and extend to at least the lower plane of the rear axle.

Sponsors NeededWe are a group of 16-year-old students from Kimbolton School on a quest to complete a 90- minute sprint race in an electric Kart. We have the brightest minds from our school and we

are going up against the strongest brains in the country.

A kart…made out of a canoe?

I arrived at one of our meetings a few weeks ago to find everyone staring at an old, tattered K1 canoe; little did I know this was going to be our rather bizarre choice of chassis and bodywork. After getting over the shock, we cracked on with putting our

ideas into practice. With help from our sponsors Kimbolton Fireworks, Robinson Coaches, Kimbolton School, Hunts Kart Racing Club, Scott Bader and Gerratts

Brushes. Soon there was a shape formed that looked vaguely like a kart. Aside from wheels, drive chain, brakes and seat!

We plan to get the kart finished in all its livery in a few months time to enter the Greenpower Formula 24+ race. We will be travelling to some of England’s best

circuits: Dunsfold, Bedford Autodrome, Rockingham and Goodwood to name a few.
