HUSTLE AWARD

OUR WAY TO HONOR THE BEST OF THE BEST

AWARD CRITERIA

As you know, HUSTLE is one of our ‘battle cries’, and has been since the school opened. At the root of it, we yell hustle because each person’s individual contribution is essential to the success of the organization.

Any student may apply to receive the HUSTLE AWARD, which will be given at banquet each year to the students who meet the criteria for the award.

Students winning the HUSTLE AWARD will receive a 3” Medallion with a Ribbon to wear or display however they choose. We will also make a note of the yearly winners on a plaque to display in the band hall for all time.

Winning this award is a BIG DEAL and represents what we seek in the IDEAL Hillgrove Band Student. The qualities are also what major universities and employers seek in their applicants as well.

H-U-S-T-L-E HUMILITY

-Students must show a passion for serving others through service, volunteerism, etc…

SCHOLARSHIP

-A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required

TRUSTWORTHINESS

-Recommendations from 5 peers, including 3 who play the same instrument as the applicant AND 1 Teacher (not band)

LEADERSHIP

-Must attend the Band leadership classes in the spring, or an approved substitute class

EXCELLENCE IN MUSIC

-A minimum of 24 half-hour private lessons taken during the school year/summer

-Audition for district and all state

-Prepare and perform a SOLO at solo and ensemble festival
