Jabreyl Thomas, Team Member

Adebola Adedoyin I joined the trial team because I want to be a skilled Howard trained litigator. Tactful litigating skills were born at Howard and I'd like to receive as much of that knowledge, wisdom, and training as possible before I become a practicing criminal defense attorney.

Additionally, Huver I. Brown was a daring and tactful attorney, and it is truly a blessing to be on a team that honors his hard work and promotes his legacy.

Once I graduate from Howard, I would like to clerk for a year or two and them become a public defender.

My dream job is to be a social engineer. At the moment, I envision that as public defense, but I am open to all the employment opportunities where I can fulfill that dream.

Eri Aguilar I joined the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team to hone my advocacy skills. I'm an ardent believer of trial work being a dynamic activity requiring consistent practice, reflection, and adaptation.

After graduating from Howard University School of Law I want to practice patent litigation.

My dream job would be to work as Commander of the International Space Station.

Oluwadamilola Animashaun I joined the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team because I want to be a top-notch Civil Rights/ Human Rights litigator and advocate, within the legacy of Pauli Murray and Thurgood Marshall.

I want to litigate Civil Rights cases and defend criminally charged clients, particularly those who are incarcerated, minorities, and those from underprivileged communities.

I do not have a dream job but a calling to ensure racial justice and a commitment to serve the most marginalized in the streets and the courtroom.

Joseph Borden National Trial Competition Champion

I joined Trial Ad. to sharpen my oratory skills, and I knew Trial Ad would properly prepare me to be an excellent attorney, no matter what area of law I end up in.

Once I graduate from HUSL, I hope to follow in the footsteps of Huver I. Brown and Thurgood Marshall and righteously, thoroughly, relentlessly, unashamedly, fearlessly advocate for justice.

My dream is to become a formidable social engineer.

Don Crawford I joined the trial team because my passion for trial level litigation. During law school, students tend to learn the law through an appellate perspective, without gaining an appreciation for what took place during trial. Largely due to Professor Lenese Herbert's evidence course I fell in love with everything about trial level litigation and was inspired to pursue the Trial Team. 2.

I plan to pursue a career in tax law and litigate tax cases in front of the U.S. Tax Court and Federal District Courts. 3.

My dream job is to try constitutional law cases and become the dean of Howard University School of Law.

Jalisa Curtis I joined the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team because I wanted to become a litigator, and this would be the best way to learn how to feel comfortable on my feet, complete full trial and work on my advocacy skills. I knew the courtroom was where I needed to be, and the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team would prepare me best for this next step in my career.

Upon graduation, I will be an Assistant State Attorney in Florida.

My dream job would be to become a federal prosecutor and to become a judge afterwards.

Rosalie Ebongo Bayehe I joined the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy team to overcome my fear of public speaking, become comfortable with operating under pressure, and develop the skills necessary to persuade and present with confidence and clarity.

I will to be a prosecutor in the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Section of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. I would like to be responsible for cases that involve sexual abuse of any form involving child or elderly victims.

My dream job is a Criminal Lawyer/Salon & Spa Business Owner.

Alicia Frison National Trial Competition Champion

I have long admired the Howard Law image of excellence. I recall sitting in amazement hearing about the powerful, confident, and precise way Howard University swept teams in the courtroom. I knew I wanted to be a part of that legacy of excellence. I want to be a part of the legacy of the greats of Charles Hamilton Houston, Thurgood Marshall, and Huver I. Brown. I look forward to seeing my name on the Howard Law walls.

I want to be a Civil Rights Litigator once I graduate.

President of the United States, but that is far from a dream.

Page 7: Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Moot Court ... - law.howard.edulaw.howard.edu/sites/default/files/related... · Howard trained litigator. Tactful litigating skills were born at Howard

Brianna Gordon I was first introduced to the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team when one of my mentor’s invited me to her competition. I came to law school knowing that I wanted to litigate - to defend the rights of poor, colored, and marginalized people. It wasn’t until I watched her compete though, advocating confidently and persuading the judge and jury with articulation and thorough knowledge of the federal rules of evidence, that I knew the trial ad team was the ONLY team at HUSL that could train me to be an EXCELLENT defense attorney.

My dream is to one day be a prominent international human rights attorney. As I work towards that goal, I aspire to litigate class action cases on behalf of the millions of folks locked in cages in the US, as a prisoners’ rights lawyer when I graduate from Howard Law this upcoming May.

McKayla Henderson

I joined the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team because I want to become a stronger oral advocate.

I want to become a public defender when graduate from Howard.

My dream job is a juvenile public defense attorney.

Page 8: Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Moot Court ... - law.howard.edulaw.howard.edu/sites/default/files/related... · Howard trained litigator. Tactful litigating skills were born at Howard

Amethyst Jefferson-Roberts I joined the HIB Trial Advocacy team because the excellence required by the team is what my clients will require every time I walk into the court room. Indigent defense is a work of extreme labor, mentally, physically, and emotionally. This team puts you through the ringer, but by trusting the process, you will not only be a well prepared attorney that can think on your feet and can respond well under pressure, you will understand the importance of being a social engineer on the trial level to make the record for those most vulnerable in society.

I will be a Public Defender.

My dream is to be a small piece of a bigger movement of ensuring a constitution that seen US as animals and still heard us as cattle under the color of the prison industrial complex is bended to human dignity and justice.

Teneshia Jones

I saw the Trial Team before I decided to join. The team members exuded confidence and excellence! I wanted to learn to speak and carry myself with such excellence!

I want to work in either healthcare, environmental and energy, or public ethics law. I want to use my position as a foundation for those that look like me.

My dream job would be Governor or Senator for the state of Georgia. Stacy Abrams gave me hope.

Page 9: Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Moot Court ... - law.howard.edulaw.howard.edu/sites/default/files/related... · Howard trained litigator. Tactful litigating skills were born at Howard

Deborah Kadiri I joined the team to get a head start on litigation training.

I want to do public defender work once I graduate from Howard.

As of now, my dream job is working as a criminal defense litigator in my own private practice.

Patricia Medina

I joined the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team because I wanted to learn from the best trial lawyers and work with the best future trial lawyers. I want to be a litigator once I graduate, so being on the team is the best way to learn the skills I need in the courtroom.

I want to be a Civil Rights Prosecutor or a Plaintiff’s Attorney that seeks justice for my clients once I graduate. I came to Howard because of the injustice I saw in my community and I wanted to be part of changing the status quo. I came to Howard to learn how to be a social engineer.

My dream job is one that will allow me to help bring justice to families and help ensure more families will not have to suffer.

Page 10: Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Moot Court ... - law.howard.edulaw.howard.edu/sites/default/files/related... · Howard trained litigator. Tactful litigating skills were born at Howard

Jezreel Moore I joined the H. I. B. Trial Advocacy Team because I knew I wanted to be a litigator, and I knew that the skills I would gain from this organization were transferable not only to litigation, but also business, politics, and entertainment. I wanted to learn how to think on my feet and how to eliminate the bad habits (or “ticks”) many people have when they speak publicly. I also knew that the most prepared lawyers—the lawyers with the most practical courtroom/case work experience out of law school—were the law students who were on the trial advocacy team. Therefore, if I want to be the best, I have to prepare with the best. So, I joined the trial advocacy team.

After graduating from college, I want to gain practical trial/litigation experience. I have accepted a job with the Philadelphia District Attorney, and I will be an Assistant DA in Philadelphia for the first three years out of law school. After gaining practical experience on how a progressive prosecution office is ran, I hope to move back to Texas and run for the District Attorney position in my hometown of Beaumont, Texas. Finally, I hope to reform the criminal justice system as a progressive prosecutor.

Lastly, my dream job is to have many dream jobs. I would like to be a politician, the founder and CEO of my own criminal and civil litigation firm, an Entrepreneur owning many businesses (restaurants, clubs, barbershops, beauty salons, real estate development firm, music label, and clothing label). I would like to do everything that I am interested in, but I would also like to make my family and friend’s dreams come true as well. When it is all said and done, I want to be wise, resourceful, and humble. If I am able to lead the next generation to become more wise, independent, but unified, I am certain that I have done my job on this Earth.

Radarius Morrow National Trial Competition Champion

I joined the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team to be the best litigator I can be on behalf of my clients. Trial Advocacy grants me the opportunity to hone my litigation skills in preparation for my future in criminal defense.

Once I graduate Howard, I want to make a difference in my community via criminal defense. I plan to take the lessons, skills, and expertise I have acquired back to my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama and provide my community with an unmatched level of care, dedication, and social engineering that only a Howard Lawyer can provide.

My dream job is to have my own practice, specializing in civil rights and criminal defense.

DiNesha Rucker I wanted to join the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team because I wanted to practice and learned to be a zealous advocate before I ever stepped foot into a real courtroom. I wanted the day that I first stepped foot into a courtroom as an advocate to be the day I already knew what it took to be exactly what my client needed me to be.

After graduating a hope to work as a Juvenile Public Defender.

My dream job is a have my own holistic organization focusing on providing legal representation to juveniles as well as providing other avenues for juveniles to remain out of legal trouble.
