The HS tributary modules include opti- cal STM-1/4 - OC-3/12, E3/T3, E1/T1 interfaces and Giga/Fast Ethernet over SDH/SONET are mapped into the SONET - SDH payload through stand- ard techniques such as GFP, LAPS, VCAT and LCAS. The HS modules are used in HX9400RA SDH multiplexer. The LS tributary modules are connect- ed through a full non-blocking DS0 cross- connect matrix so delivering an integrat- ed mini DACS system. All interfaces are fully compliant with the relevant ITU ETSI and ANSI standards. The hybrid SONET/SDH-PDH provides full Operation, Administration, Maintenance and Provisioning (OAM&P) functionalities. A COMBO MULTIPLEXER PDH EDGE AND SDH TRANSPORT

The HX9500RA SONET/SDH-PDH is a Hybrid Multi-Service Access Multiplexer with

STM-1/4/16 - OC-3/12/48 optical lines aggregate and HS tributaries as EoSDH

and a non-blocking VC11/VC12/VC3/VC4 cross-connect together with a PDH DS0

cross-connect or DACS with Low Speed tributary modules. This solution combine the

The CXR SDH ADM/TM multiplexers HX9500R/RA are supporting the SDH following

protections:

The physical STM-x interfaces are connected in BUS or RING infrastructure with MSP or SNCP

protection but each VC12, VC3 or VC4 circuit we is selected with protection or without protect-

ed by the MSP or SNCP. Then the bandwidth utilization of the STM-x fiber is optimized with

protected circuits, theirs protection circuits and unprotected circuits.

MSP 1+1 Protection is available between aggregate interfaces of CC4/CC16 (between 2 ports

of one card or 1 ports of 2 cards) and with two tributaries HX9400R-ADSTM1/4 cards (one

STM4 as MSP 1+1 or 2 STM1 as MSP 1+1).

SNCP Protection is available between aggregate interfaces of CC4/CC16 (between 2 ports of

one card or 1 ports of 2 cards) or and with two tributaries HX9400R-ADSTM1/4 cards (one

STM4 between Slot1 and Slot3 or 2 STM1 between Slot1 and Slot 2 or Slot 3 and Slot 4).

SNCP with MSP 1+1 with 4 fibers Protection is available between aggregate interfaces of

CC4/CC16 using the 4 ports. This protection is used in infrastructure with a level of risk on the

fiber availability.

SNCP Mesh Protection with 2 CC4 or CC16 the SNCP protected circuit can cross the node from

one aggregate CC4/16 interface to a tributary interface the HX9400R-ADSTM1/4 cards. T

MESH feature gives the possibility to share physical interfaces to set-up several

VC12/VC11/VC3/VC4 circuits.

The SNCP protection is activated in Intrusive Mode only in case the fiber or in Non-Intrusive

mode when the fiber is cut or on bad quality of the STM-x line.

All protections are Reversible or No- Reversible.

The recovery time of circuits with MSP protection is < 10ms

The recovery time of circuits with SNCP protection is < 50ms

The recovery time of circuits with SNCP+ MSP over 4 fiber protection is < to 50ms

Remarks: all E1, T1, E3 and DS3 interfaces of the card are supporting independent clock synchroniza-

tion as the standard SDH transport.

QX3440 & HX9500R/RA PDH PROTECTION

The PDH QX3440 and the Hybrid SDH ADM/TM PDH HX9500RA/RL and HX9550R

multiplexers are supporting for n64K circuits the SNCP-PDH or SNCP-DS0 or SNCP-

64K protections:

Inside a static TDM PDH or PDH over SDH network this SNCP-PDH give a dynamic End to End

protection between 2 sites A and Z for voice or data interfaces.

This is feature is processed by the QX3440-3E1 or HX9550-3E1 cards and switch by the

CPU/DACS TS0. At the both end A and Z an active link is generated over a Working Path (WP),

and a duplicate link over the Protection Path (PP). These links is a framed circuit DS0 n 64Kbps

over a serial of E1 links.

The switch of the n64K circuit from Working Path (WP) to Protection Path (PP) is effective within

10ms. This is much faster than the full E1 switch in PDH network or Microwave but also in SDH

Network with MSP-SDH or SNCP-SDH.

This mode supports the protection of data or voice with or CAS circuits or G.704. The protected

circuits are selected with one 64Kbps TS (Time Slot) or n 64Kbps TS with n<32. The E1 WAN use

to carry such circuit can carry together standard traffic without protection in other TS.

When using the HX9500Rx chassis the protection is generating at the PDH level and carried over

SDH VC12 circuits.
