hybriddocs - a digital learning environment based on flashcards
TRANSCRIPT
Evaluating Digital Learning Environments: From a Framework to a Protoype to a Service
Hybrid Docs
#PDSC14, November 2014
Knowledge that is not available as (structured) data is already lost.
Assumption
1. What is the impact of digital learning environments (i.e. Massive Open Online Courses) on academic and life long learning? What is missing?
2. How can we convert analog (raw) learning materials (e.g. Supplementary Booklet of ZEIT Akademie, OER) into a hybrid/digital format?
3. Which pedagogical/didactical concepts can be used for the reception and learning of learning materials in digital learning enviroments?
The Research Questions
1. Develope a software framework to import and convert raw learning materials (e.g. lecture manuscripts) into restructurable datasets
2. Based on the pedagogical concept of Sebastian Leitner building a tool for restructing the data and writing learning cards / flashcards
à Process to convert whole Books/Manuscipts to datasets and a set of digital flashcards with questions on the Backside
The Idea
1. Wokshops with external and internal experts on questions of using OER in digital learning enviroments
2. Developed a theoretical framework based on the idea of digitizing the concept flashcards by Sebastian Leitner
3. Build an open source multi-purpose prototype
What we did
1. Further workshops with schools and students on use-cases of a digital flash cards for learning
2. Finalize the development of HybridDocs as an web-platform for working and learning with open educational ressources and other learning materials
3. Launch HybridDocs tool as an open and free service
What we will do
