1 About this document

This Release Notes document the changes introduced in Hydra with release 7.0.

The changes may have been required out of several reasons:

o New features implementation

o Improvement of existing features

o Found defects

This document will go through all the introduced changes, explaining first the major changes in a cross-module user perspective, then, module by module, the other changes.


2 Emergency Goalkeeper concept review

The logic of how the 3rd Goalkeeper is implemented in Hydra has been changed to better reflect what happens "in the real world", following decisions taken at the ORIS meeting.

In a few words, in the real world:

- the definition of "Emergency Goalkeeper" does not exist anymore

- for some tournaments, including OG, the Team is allowed to register three Goalkeepers in the Team Roster

- Team is anyway NOT allowed to put more than two Goalkeepers in any line-up, they will just dress the 3rd Goalkeeper in case one of the two is suddenly injured

As a consequence, in Hydra:

- Aquila Line-up Setup still has the "EG" box which will be used during the game in case the 3rd Goalkeeper gets dressed, so to have him available in Orion and Gemini

- Report C48A Team Line-up Form does not show anymore the box called "EG":

- all other reports lost any reference to "EG" but still list the 3rd Goalkeeper in case it's setup in Aquila (it's listed as a normal GK). Impacted Reports are:

o C48B Game Starting Line-up Form

o C54B / C54C Line-ups

o C73 Official Gamesheet (also "Saves" section and 2nd page had to be reviewed)

o C74 Game Summary


3 Extra Attacker indication

The situation where a Goal is scored with the Extra Attacker is now identified and managed throughout the system.

An "EA" indicator will now be shown together with the Game Situation.

In the Orion Game Actions table:

4 Game locking

For the Results Manager to be sure to have exclusive access to a Game's data after the Game is over, and to prevent other users from modifying data after that, a new flag is available in the Mensa Event / Game Schedule window:

When hooked, this flag will prevent following Hydra modules to make modification to the Game's data:

o Orion

o Gemini

o Cronos

o Time On Ice (TOI)

The locking status will be evident to the user in the module's Game table, by means of a new "Lock" column showing the Locked status with an "X":

If the user tries to open the game regardless of the Locked status, a pop-up message will notify the user and the Game will be closed automatically:

Time On Ice will remain "disconnected" if trying to connect to a Locked game.


5 Mensa Event

Some new fields have been defined at the Mensa Event / Competition Setup level.

Detailed description of each field and its use follows.

5.1 Date of First Directorate

This date allows the report "C33 Team Roster" to work as specified in ORIS: the Registration date of players appears only in case it's different from the First Directorate date, making more evident and recognisable the late comers:


5.2 "GEMINI in use" flag

This flag will cause the Orion window buttons

NOT to be displayed since Shots and Face-offs are managed by Gemini.

5.3 "Time On Ice in use" flag

This flag has been added for documentation purposes and to be ready for future use.


5.4 Rink size

This field can have two possible values, IIHF (the default) and NHL. The information describes the rink size and has two impacts on the Hydra behaviour: GEMINI screen and "C77A Shot Chart" report.

6 Aquila Game Setup

6.1 Off-Ice Officials names No automatic formatting of Off-Ice Officials happens anymore, so to make it possible to use the preferred case:

7 Aquila / Reports

7.1 Dynamic Legends All reports now feature dynamic legends: only legend items which are actually used in the current report text are shown.

7.2 Revised C35B Competition Officials report C35B Competition Officials has been revised according to requirements (now only shows On-ice Officials):


7.3 C38 Entry Data Checklist report – new layout C38 Report has now a new layout – as specified in ORIS R5 – which provides better readability and clearness.

This is how a Player is now shown:

The "Corrections" columns will contain a star (*) where a manual truncation/correction has been done, in order to draw the attention to that particular name which should be checked carefully.

To manage this indication, the Additional Names window has been slightly modified with the addition of a "Modified" flag which can be manually setup to show the star in the C38 report for the corresponding data field:


7.4 C39 Entry Data Checklist Competition Officials report – new layout C39 Report has now a new layout – as specified in ORIS R5 – which provides better readability and clearness.

This is how a Game Official is now shown:

7.5 New C38B Entry Data Checklist Teams report A new C38B Report has been implemented - as specified in ORIS R5 – providing the mean to have official approval of Teams/Countries/NOCs data, along the lines of what happens for Players / Team Officials (C38) and Competition Officials (C39):


7.6 New C66 Player Registration Overview report A new C66 Report has been implemented providing the detailed Overview of the Teams registration data. Here's the sample with data from WM11 Slovakia:

7.7 C48A Team Line-up Form report - changes C48A Report now shows total of players and goalkeepers to facilitate controlling if the form was filled out correctly by counting the "used" boxes and comparing with that figure:


7.8 C74 Game Summary report - changes C74 Report now shows two additional pieces of information in the play-by-play section:

• "served by" in case entered in the Penalty

• Time-outs

For PP Goals, now a "star" is shown next to the "Players on ice" indication, with a corresponding Legend Item:

In the Game Statistics section:

• the Head Coach has been moved under the Team indication

• a Points column has been added

• the Face-offs statistics have been added


7.9 C76x Tournament Progress reports - changes In all versions of C76x Reports, both Olympic and non-Olympic, in the Standings tables, the "Points" column has been moved to the right end and bolded:

In the Olympic report C76D (Women Play-Offs) the new bracket structure has been implemented:


7.10 C84 Team Statistics report - changes The header of the report now also shows the "Including Game xx" indication to better clarify which data is included in the report and which is not:

7.11 Other small changes/fixes • In reports "C93 Medallists by Event" and "C95 Medal Standings", "After x of y Events" has been

removed and an "as of time" indication has been added

• In Aquila Output Control, the Competition Phase listbox does not show anymore Phases which are not applicable for reports production. As a side effect, in Tournament standings, please note that the Final Ranking can be setup by selecting the Play-offs phase


8 Orion

8.1 Goalkeeper changes and game status Now Goalkeeper changes can be recorded regardless of the game status.

As an example, to record a Goalkeeper change for the 2nd period the Operator has not anymore to wait to have the 2nd period opened.

8.2 Offline shots The Offline shots functionality has been reviewed for a better management of Empty Net Goals (ENG), where now the recorded Goalkeeper changes do not impact anymore this feature:

o in case the Goal is marked as ENG, the Offline shots feature works accordingly

o in case the Goal is NOT marked as ENG, the Goalkeeper used for the Offline shots is the one appearing in the Minus section – if no Minus Goalkeeper is given, the Goal is considered ENG regardless of the missing ENG mark

8.3 Other small changes/fixes • When opening the Penalty Shot window, the "shooting team" Goalkeeper field is now empty

• In case Gemini is in use, the Orion window buttons

will NOT to be displayed since Shots and Face-offs are managed by Gemini - see the "Mensa Event" section for details.

• An explanatory message now appears in the Game Actions table when there are no recorded game actions:


9 Web output

9.1 Game Phase The "Games & Results" section of the Web output now shows the game phase code and respective dynamic Legend:

9.2 Live Applet - changes Live-Applet now also shows Time-outs:
