HyperWorks 13.0 - New Partner Integrations

The HyperMesh - Total Materia (previously KEY to METALS) integration connects seamlessly from HyperMesh Desktop to KEY to METALS. This integration allows users to directly access to the world’s most comprehensive materials database, search for materials required in their simulations and down-load and import directly into HyperWorks.

Interface to Design Process of Composite Structures

The latest release of HyperWorks 13.0 brings many new capabilities to the software suite, including a number of interfaces with applications available through the Altair Partner Alliance. Information about each is outlined below.

The ESAComp - HyperWorks interface allows users to apply advanced failure criteria to struc-tures using ESAComp, and to visualize the failure results’ contours in HyperView or through the thickness plots in ESAComp. It efficiently uses HyperMesh Desktop’s matrix browser technology for data exchange.

With the bi-directional interface now in place, ESAComp fits easily in the composite design pro-cess in HyperWorks both for materials and layup import during the pre-processing, and failure evaluation in the post-processing. This functional-ity will be available in HyperWorks 13.0.120.

Progressive Failure Analysis of Composites

The RADIOSS - GENOA interface models progressive failure of structures made from advanced composite materials subject to static, fatigue, and impact loadings.

RADIOSS FEA solver calls the GENOA Micromechanics Module at each user-defined time step for damage eval-uation. When damage is detected, the GENOA micro-mechanics module inside the installed library degrades the material properties of composites according to the damage modes. GENOA/RADIOSS is able to print out ply damage index that can be used for GENOA-GUI to display the damage mode(s) incrementally.

RadTherm’s Human Thermal Comfort Module enables prediction of human comfort based on a HVAC system. RadTherm - AcuSolve enables heat transfer coefficients and fluid temperatures to be imported into RadTherm.
