Module BusinessAs a leading company in modularization, which is called the third automotive innovation,Hyundai MOBIS provides the top three automotive modules — chassis module, cockpitmodule and FEM — with “Just In Sequence (JIS)” processing. In addition, it is developingand producing cutting-edge modules by participating in the R&D process for finishedautomobile from an early stage, such as design and testing.

    Chassis Module

The chassis module, located at thebottom of an automobile, forms theframework of the automobile and iscomposed of suspension, steering, andbrakes as the system support body andpowertrain. Hyundai MOBIS produces avariety of chassis module forms in Koreaand global plants.

    Cockpit Module

The cockpit module is the part whichintegrates parts related to safetyand convenience of the driver andpassengers ; for example, the instrumentpanel and air vents. Hyundai MOBIS’cockpit modules, loaded with variousconveniences such as lightweightautomotive materials and luxuriousinteriors, are being produced in domesticand overseas plants.

    Front End Module (FEM)

The FEM is the part unit that integratethe parts related to the automobilefront such as the carrier, headlamp andbumper. Hyundai MOBIS is developinFEMs with a variety of validationmethods for the organic combinationof related parts and the protection ofpedestrians on impact and producingthem in domestic and overseas plants.

JIS Just In Sequence In this production system, whenever one automobile is ordered to be produced, the modules required for theautomobile are produced and supplied at the same time. This production system does not only heighten theefficiency and convenience of automotive assembly, but also enables effective inventory management.

Hyundai MOBIS is making its bestefforts to produce braking parts thatare directly related to the safety of thedriver and pedestrians, such as basicConventional Brake System (CBS) andthe MOBIS Electronic Brake (MEB), whichimprove the safety and braking powerof automobiles.

MOBIS Electronic Brake (MEB)This is a cutting-edge brake system, which Hyundai MOBIS has developedwith its independent technology andapplies to finished automobiles. Itenables safe steering by detectingthe automobile’s movement whena dangerous situation occurs andautomatically controlling the sliding ofthe wheels and body turn angle.

Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)This is an electronic parking systemwhich enables parking with thedriver’s operation of a switch button,a developed version from the existingmechanical parking brake using hand/foot levers.

Conventional Brake System (CBS)As a device to reduce the speed orstop an automobile, it is composed of acaliper, brake booster, and drum brake.
