DNA Kits

We are getting Close! Please complete the following steps to complete your DNA Kits as required for all marketanimals showing at the California Mid-Winter Fair:

1. Complete DNA Kit Order Form - Attached, or available at ivexpo.com. Fax to 760-.'355-1425 or email [email protected]

2. Make an appointment with the Fair Office to pick up DNA Kits - call 760-355-1181

3. After picking up kits, tag and collect samples - YOU MUST TAG WHEN YOU COLLECT SAMPLES.4. Submit complete kits to the Fair Office - Ifnot personally turning in kits, Leaders should follow up with

members to be sure they are in by the deadline.

DREC OPEN HOUSE

The University of California Desert Research Extension Center (DREC)in Holtville, right next to the 4-H

Office, has the oldest continuously operating field station, and will he having is centennial celebrationthis year. The DRECopen house will have a variety of activities, with many organizations represented.

Among them will be 4-H Plant and Flower Show. 4-Hers are invited to attend to staff a booth or give apresentation. Displays from livestock, still exhibits, or any other 4-H Projects are welcome. If you are

interested in participative, please contact the 4-H Office.

TEEN INVOLVEMENT CONFERENCE

Pathfinder Ranch, Mountain Center, CA

The California 4-H South Section Teen Involvement Conference (TIC) is a three day youth leadershipconference for high school aged 4-H members of the south section. Youth who attend this conference willhave a chance to: gain new leadership techniques, learn teamwork skills, obtain information on opportunities4-H has to offer at a sectional and state wide level, meet 4-H members from across the state, participate incommunity service activities, and much more! The conference is completely planned and ran by the youthofficers (Including our own Matthew Jones), teen council members, and volunteers.

The Early Bird Deadline has already passed, but it's not too late! You can still register at the $120.00 rate ifyour packet is postmarked by January 7th

, or at the $150.00 rate if you register when you arrive at theconference.

Here volunteers can learn about pro] ects and •• •• strategies being used leaders in other counties, in the most fun and relaxed •• •• atmosphere you will find among events beyond the county level. •• •• •• This year the Leaders' Retreat will be held at the Plans of Fame Museum in Chino, •• •• California. Participants make their own hotel reservations in the area, and come •: to the site for workshops and other events. The registration cost is $40.00 :• which includes all events, as well as four meals.
