    PRESENTACION

avalanchas, incendios, deforestacin, contaminacin, huracanes, maremotos, etc.Esta vulnerabilidad est relacionada con las transformaciones

    INTRODUCTION

The reduction of disaster risks is the sum of a number ofcoordinated actions guided to the analysis, assessment, consideration and management of the factors that contribute totheir occurrence.

Society, in general, is at high-risk before the impact of potentiallydestructive events, such as, for example: earthquakes, plagues, volcanic eruptions, flooding, snow slides, fires, deforestation, pollution, hurricanes, seaquakes, etc. This high-risk exposure is related to the transformations in the

natural and physical environment reducing the potential and theresilience of the societies and the ecosystems which we dependon for our subsistence.

Therefore the reduction of disaster risk should be understoodas a comprehensive cross-section on-going program in thecurrent daily processes of a territory development.IMCoDeG, by means of the "International Congress on Disaster

Risks and Sustainable Territorial Development", intends to jointhe different and multiple actors associated to the subject area, who analyze the causes and effects of the disaster risks and

Going further, onthe way to the Chile border, the periglacial and glacialenvironment of the Province of Catamarca.
