i DESIGN WEBSITES.To me web design is about cre-ating an interactive experience that is dynamic but still easy to use and understand.

i DESIGN FOR PRINT.The possibilities are endless when designing for print. Giving the viewer a multi-dimensional experience is an exciting and challenging part of the print de-sign process.

i PHOTOGRAPH.Photography isn’t just about capturing a moment but being able to share my interpretation of the moment with a viewer.

BRIAN MEYERS

Design is my passion. At Quinnipiac Univer-sity I studied Interactive and Graphic Design with a minor in Fine Arts. In 2009 I had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy, where I focused on renaissance art, European architecture and photography. I am in love with everything Italy, it borders on obsession. (This typeface is even called Italia.) I also really en-joy working with typography. I love how much you can say with just a font alone. I hope to continue to work in multiple mediums and be living and designing in New York City.

MÉTAL ET LUMIÉRE.As a personal project, I designed a magazine spread incorporating photographs I had taken in Paris and Milan. I sought to use the structural elements of the architecture to mirror what was captured in my photography. The black and white color palette is used to amplify the lines that make up the buildings’ infrastructure.

INVITATION & RSVP.The location of this event - Miami - inspired my design. Miami is famous for Art Deco architecture and signage, which is one of my favorite styles of design. The elegant and classic qualities of the style, paired with it’s bright color palette would be approrpiate for this invitation.

BRANDING SQUID.SQUID is a certificate program offered at Quinnipiac University that recognizes stu-dents who have learned about diversity in the classroom. I was asked to create a branding campaign for the program. I was inspired by the image in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea when the giant squid attacked the submarine. I thought of the program, SQUID, squeezing edu-cation into the minds of the Quinnipiac student body.

The font for the SQUID logo needed to be versitile. It had to be printed on something as formal as a certificate and as informal as a t-shirt. I selected Rockwell because slab serifs have a formal and youthful quality.

Verlag Condensed came from my notions of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It captures the elegance and timelessness of the book.

THE CERTIFICATE.For the certificate design, I wanted integrate the calm qualities and colors of the ocean. The simple border provides a clean edge to the design, while creating visual interest with the tentacles.

I enjoyed the process of selecting the paper and envelope. I selected a textured paper which gives the impression of more weight and higher quality. The envelope shape and color as well as how it opens is reflective of the waves of the ocean.

BROCHURE + POSTER.By printing double-sided on an 8.5 x 14 inch paper using an accordian fold, I created a combined brochure and poster. The squid attacking iconic Quinnipiac clock tower is eyecatching and something the students would respond to. Using scale, I focused the viewer to the word LEARN, then lead them to how can you make a difference.

SQUID T-SHIRT + TOTE.To create interest for the program, I designed a SQUID T-shirt and tote, where the information about the pro-gram would be made visible around campus. With the t-shirt, I wanted to focus on the idea of the SQUID program squeezing education into the minds of Quinnipiac students.

i Design Websites.

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK.When designing this website, I decided to use colors that invoked the feeling of the tropics, such as citrus greens, yellows, and oranges. I used Market Deco, a thicker geometric typeface to represent the construction projects that the students would be involved in.

The look and feel of the website was based on the client’s desire to convey the experience and purpose of the trip. This was accomplished by using an interactive element of student experiences and photos.

The old website for IHC had cumbersome navigation and was visually distracting. My objective was to create a clean and modern design to allow the user experience to be more efficient. I was able to accomplish this by reorganizing the navigation, which made the content easier to find. I used a cool color palette and modern typefaces: Helvetica and Century.

ANN TAYLOR CHECKOUT.The challenge of this project was to create a visual hierarchy that allowed the large amount of information to be displayed in a digestible form.Using the darker colors associated with Ann Taylor I created the contrast that was necessary to make thecontent understandable, while still remaining visually elegant.

LONDON EYE SPIED.This a photo of London’s famous ferris wheel, the London Eye just after a rain storm. The blue sky and sunlight was peaking from behind the clouds as they disappeared, which inspired me to take the photograph.

TOSCANA STORM.The Tuscan countryside is really unforgetable; rolling hills topped by stucco and terracotta towns, and vineyards nestled in between. The impending thunderhead had been creeping onto our trip most of the evening.

TIMES CHANGE.The Piazza Republica is the Fashion Ave. of Florence as well as a meeting place for locals. This shot embodies the area, showing the clothing, the motion, and the classical lines of the old roman architecture.
