In case of a 2-2 tie sets , will play a 5th set of 15 points (with 2 lead)

PLAYERS Each team plays with 6 players (3

players are in front at the Attacking zone and 3 in the backcourt at the Defending Zone)

It also has six substitutes and six substitutions in each set.

A substituted player may re-enter the court again, but only to its previous position in the formation

LÍBERO replacements do not count as substitutions

The LÍBERO is a defensive specialist, but cannot serve, block or spike

The LÍBERO can only play defensive positions (1, 6 and 5) = ZAGUEROS

A player may not hit a ball that is higher than the net height if the previous play was hit by a LÍBERO in the front zone

ROTATIONThere six positions on the court; each one, occupied by a player at the moment of the service.

ROTATION: Every time a team RECOVERS the service, each player must move position “clockwise”. (en el sentido de las agujas del reloj)

Serving area

ABOUT SERVING:

- The service must be made by the player on the right of the defending zone. (The one in position 1) from behind the BASELINE of the court.

- There’s only one serve (there is never a second chance). - When serving, each player must stand at his place, according to the rotation.

Then, they can move to another position.- The ball can touch the net when is crossing to the opponent´s court

- The other team can’t block the serve or make a spike directly

MOST COMMON FOULS: Four hits (blocking does not compute as a hit) Double contact (a player hits the ball two times consecutively) Contact with the net by a player, if it interferes with the play A player’s foot (feet) penetrates completely into the opponent's court Catch and throw the ball Players are not correctly positioned on the court at the moment of the service. (For

example, player number 6 must be between 5 and 1 and behind 3). After the service, they can change their positions.

IT IS ALLOWED TO: Hit the ball with any part of the body (feet, head are also permitted) The ball may touch the net while crossing it. Penetrate into the opponent’s space under the net, provided that this does not

interfere with the opponent’s play. In blocking, a player may touch the ball beyond the net, provided that he/she

does not interfere with the opponent’s play. After an attack hit, a player is permitted to pass his/her hand beyond the net,

provided that the contact has been made within his/her own playing space. Simultaneous contacts: two or more players may contact the ball at the same

time

SKILLS

SERVE-SERVICE: Underhand serve (de abajo). For

beginners. It´s easier. Safer, but less powerful.

Overhand serve (de tenis o arriba). More powerful. If you don´t know how to do it, it would be less safe.

Jump serve (en salto): Like Overhand but jumping.

DEFENSIVE POSITION: It is very important to be ready to move

quickly where the ball is going to drop.

BUMP –UNDERARM PASS – FOREARM PASS Defensive role: reception of serve and attacks (most usual 1st team contact) You must move a step behind where the ball is going to drop. The ball touches the inner part of both forearms, at waist line

SET-OVERHAND PASS The ball is hit with the fingertips,

above the head You must move just below where

the ball is going to drop. Commonly used as the 2nd team

contact: the main goal is to put the ball in the air in such a way that it can be driven by an attack into the opponent's court.

SPIKE - ATTACK Offensive role. 3rd team hit

BLOCK Defensive and offensive role To block an opponent's service is forbidden A block contact is not counted as a team hit (so they can still hit three

times)

DIG and DIVE Digging is the ability to prevent the ball from touching one's court after a

spike or attack Dive: throw the body in the air with a forward movement in an attempt to save

the ball, and land on the chest
