In June and October of 1991, Noranda Exploration Company, Limited (no personal liability)

conducted a geological mapping program on the Glimmer Property.

l The survey was conducted on the northeast slope of Froome Hill and involved a suite of

diabase dykes, dioritic intrusives and mafic metavolcanics.

    LOCATION OF SURVEY AREA

The geological survey was conducted on claim 1048335 in the northeast quarter south half

of lot 6 and concession 6 and claims L1048333 and L1048334 in the west half of the north half of lot

6 and concession 5 in Hislop township of the Larder Lake Mining Division (Figures l A 2).

These claims are part of the Glimmer Property which is located approximately 9km northeast

of Matheson, Ontario and is accessible from Highway 101.

    l

    lPREVIOUS WORK

l During December 1989, Noranda Exploration conducted ground magnetometer and VLF-EM

surveys on cut grid lines spaced 100m apart The report for this work has been previously filed for

    " assessment credit purposes.

    REGIONAL GEOLOGY

l Hislop township is underlain by rocks of the Kinojevis and Stoughton-Roquemaure Groups.

These two groups are separated by the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone.

l Most of Hislop Township is underlain by a northwest trending, steeply dipping, south facing,

monoclinal succession of magnesium and iron-rich tholeiitic basalts, tholeiitic andesites, dacites and

l rhyolites of the Kinojevis Group.

lA major northwest trending strike fault, the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone, has been identified

l in the northeast corner of Hislop township. This fault separates the Kinojevis metavolcanics to the

m south from the older Stoughton-Roquemaure Group to the north. The Stoughton-Roquemaure

Group is composed predominantly of ultramafic and basaltic komatiites and magnesium rich tholeiitic

l basalts. In the northeast corner of the township, the Stoughton-Roquemaure Group has what is

presently believed to be a conformable and contemporaneous relationship with a broad belt of

Porcupine Group sediments. Both of the rock groups north of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone are

l northwest trending, steeply dipping and north facing (Table 1).

    l

    l

One thousand three hundred metres of linecutting was performed on claim L1048335 as infill

lines so as to better define the geology.

    GEOLOGICAL SURVEY RESULTS

    l

l In June and October of 1991, Noranda Exploration conducted a geological mapping program

on claims L1048333, L1048334 and L104833S at a scale of 12500 (Figure 3). The area of

l concentrated outcrop was the northeast slope of a topographical high known as Froome Hill on claim

    B L1048335.

l The youngest rocks found on this claim are the Matachewan Diabase Dykes which strike

m north-south and are steeply dipping. The dykes are generally dark green, fine to medium grained

with local yellow-green phenocryst which average 5 to 10mm in size. These rocks are strongly

    l magnetic.

The bulk of Froome Hill is composed of a large dioritic intrusion. On the weathered surface

l these rocks are light beige to rusty brown. On a fresh surface they are medium to dark green, fine

to medium grained, weakly chloritized and contain minor disseminated coarse euhedral pyrite.

Locally the unit contains calcite fracture filling, which average l to 2cm in width and are orientated

l 060CV-800N. Locally ductile shears are present which average l to 2 metres wide, trend northwest

and dip subverticalty. The shears can be traced for 20 to 100m along strike and are crosscut by the

l diabase dykes. There is also a strongly developed joint set that mimics the trend of the diabase dykes

M (strike is between 3400 and 300 and the dip is subvertical).

    l

    l

    l

    l

  • l l

The northwest trending dioritic intrusive is enveloped to the northeast and southwest by

l massive and pillowed mafic metavolcanics. The metavolcanics are light green, aphanitic to fine

grained and have a weak brown to beige weathering rind. Pillows, average 40 to 50cm across and the

    tops are south facing.

lThere were no significant zones of alteration or mineralization observed on this claim, and

l no samples were sent for gold assaying.

lNo outcrop was found on claims L1048333 and L1048334. The claims are covered with alder

    l swamp (Figure 4).

    CONCLUSION

lA geological survey was conducted on claims L1048333, L1048334 and L1048335 at a scale

' of 1:2500 in Hislop township. These claims are the southeastern limit of the Glimmer Property.

l Claim L1048335 is predominantly underlain by a dioritic intrusion and diabase dykes. Minor outcrops

of mafic metavolcanics were encountered in the northeast and southwest corners of the claim. No

" significant mineralization or alteration was encountered. Claims L1048333 and L1048334 are overlain

l with alder swamp and no outcrop was found.
