Why Holding Marc MakerWhy Holding Marc Maker

Member libraries have requested that BPS need to develop a program for holding marc maker. The program will be able to convert serial bibs to holding marc to update holding in Union Catalog database.

For Non-Holding Marc SitesFor Non-Holding Marc Sites

Input file is serial bib marc record - output is holding marc Tag 907 and its contents (if any) are copied

to holding marc Tag used for holding info is based on

<SYMB> (eg 850 etc ) Contents of above holding tag(s) are output

to tag 866

For Holding Marc SitesFor Holding Marc Sites

Input file is holding marc record - output is also holding marc Input tag 004 contents are used to make

new 907 Input tags 853, 863, 866 and 867 are

retained in output as is

For All SitesFor All Sites

851 $a and $b contents are used to make 001 and 004 in output Location code for output 852 $b is based on

<SYMB> Records without 851 or with invalid data are

skipped and writtento <inputfile>.reject Errors and warnings are logged to

<inputfile>.log as well as the cumulative application logfile mua_holdmakr.log
