Zusammenfassung: Die Probleme der Polymersolarzellen
Problem 1: Ladungstrennung
-Ladungstrennung geht nur an Grenzflächen von zwei verschiedenen Materialien
- aufgrund geringer Diffusionslängen reichen „normale“ Heterostrukturen nicht aus → interpenetrierende Netzwerke
Problem 2: Ladungstransport- relativ hohe Bahnwiderstände aufgrund der geringen Beweglichkeiten →dünne Zellen bauen (dünnen Zellen heisst aber auch wenig Absorption)
Problem 3: Bandlücke- die halbleiterelektronisch guten und gut verstandenen organischen Halbleiter habe alle zu große BandlückenProblem 4: Stabilität

Die Farbstoffsolarzelle (Grätzel-Zelle, Dye-sensitized solar cell)
Aufbau:-nanoskalige Partikel ergeben porösen Kontakt-adsorbierte Farbstoffmonolage sorgt für Absorption (ca. 1000-fach erhöht durch grosse Oberfläche)-Kontaktierung durch Elektrolyten (I-/I3-)

Zusammenfassung: Die Probleme der Grätzelzelle
- Wirkungsgrade für größere Fläche (Module) nur 5 %
- Hermetische Versiegelung für flüssigen Elektrolyten erforderlich
- Festkörperalternativen zeigen geringere Wirkungsgrade
- Langzeitstabilität fraglich
- Kosten hängen momentan mehr von der Produktion als vom Material ab, daher keine unmittelbaren Kostenvorteile offensichtlich
-mechanische Flexibilität und Transparenz kann auch von anderen Technologien erfüllt werden
