The Aberdeen School District recognizes that some students need to receive medication during the school
day. The ASD School Board permits the dispensation of medication in school when the student's health and
continuing attendance so requires, and when the medication is administered in accordance with the ASD
School Board policy and regulations. If your child needs to take medication during the school day, the following guidelines must be followed to ensure the safety of all students.
Students at the elementary and middle school are not allowed to self-administer prescription or
nonprescription medication with the exception of insulin, cough drops, or medication specifically referred to in
board policy JLCD-R. Prescription medication must be delivered to the school office by the parent/guardian. The medication will be counted by school staff and the parent/guardian. Prescription medication shall be in pharmacy labeled containers, including the student's name, the name of the drug, dosage to be taken, the name of the physician, and date of the prescription. Non- prescription medication must be in the original container/package. Medication cannot be brought to the school in envelopes or baggies. The parent/guardian must complete the Parent Request for Assistance with Medication form.
It is the responsibility of the student to come to the office to take the medication.
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to pick up the unused medication on or before the last day of
school, or one week after the last dose is given. If the medication is not picked up, it will be destroyed.

SOLO & ENSEMBLE CONTEST
WE NEED YOUR HELP!We are currently estimating around 750 entries for solos and ensembles between
band and orchestra students in grades 6-8.
In order for this event to be successful for all students and guests, we are asking
each music parent/family to donate the following for the concession stand:
1 - pan of bars, cookies, or snack items (individually wrapped)
1 - case of bottled water Please send these items with your student on Thursday, April 12th or Friday, April 13th.
All proceeds will stay with Holgate Middle School to be used toward future activities.
Please remember that students should dress nicely for the contest. Dress pants with a button-up shirt for boys (tie optional) and dress pants
with a blouse for girls are typically the popular choices for the day. PLEASE, NO SWEATS, JEANS, HOODIES, OR SHORTS!
In case of financial concern, please contact Mrs. Weischedel or the office.

ATTENDANCE MATTERSEvery Student. Every Day. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT ATTENDANCE IS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN STUDENT
ACHIEVEMENT. A 2008 study conducted by the Rodel Community Scholars at Arizona State University that
tracked students from kindergarten through high school found that dropout patterns were
linked with poor attendance, beginning in kindergarten.
