MILO HOS:PITAL GAINS AGREEMENT FOR MEDICARE RECERTIFICATION
"The Milo Community Hospital will be recertified for Medicare when it completes a plan of cor.rection submitted several months ago and approved on September 9 by the Social Security Office in Boston. " That brief announcement made this week by Milo Hospital Trustee Chairman Lewis Valente may mark the end of a struggle that began over two years ago.
The plan of correctlon entails the addltlon of fire protective ·materials to various areas of the hospital, most notably the top area of the basement. Accordlng to Valente, "the project should take a month or slx months, depending upon the availability of help and materials." Valente added, "the cost will not be prohibitive, but wlll require contlnued fund r aising from groups and Lndividuals supporting the hospital. "
The Hospital Trustees are now beginning the implementation of the correction plan and are looking for any available volunteers to helP with the corrective work. Interested volunteers may contact the hospital (943-7363) and .give the tlmes when · they wlll be available to help. In lieu of volunteer labor, contributions will be accepted to help cover project costs.

HATHAWAY Cont'd from Page 3 the moment, even with energy prices as high as they are, it would still probably be less expensive to use fossil fuels ar electricity for home and hot water heating in Maine. But me experts predict that as these energy costs rlse and solar hea.,_..., ing · equipment costs are reduced, these new systems will become cost-effective.
Moreover, some federal assistance through special ·income tax credits or deductions for the purchase and installation of solar ·heating and cooling equipment may be authorized in energy legislation pending before the Congress. Assistance may also be given through long term, low interest loans.
The Federal ,Government is supporting demonstration programs using solar energy which are concentrated on larger · builder/developer projects and local housing authorities instead of individual homeowner projects. This makes more I effective and economical use of the limited research and de-
1 velopment funds available. . .
