At the end of the day, every worker has a right to return home in the same good health as he arrived on the rig. IADC and its members are committed to achieving a state of zero incidents to make this goal a reality. Crane operations hold particular potential for harm, as incidents in numerous industries have unfortunately demonstrated. The tools at our disposal to preserve human safety are the triumvirate of training, technology and sound operations. The 2010 IADC Lifting and Mechanical Conference will drive home this message of “Training, Technology and Sound Operations: Achieving Crane Safety at the End of the Day”. The conference will convene 13-14 July at the Houston Omni Westside Hotel. This call for abstracts is an invitation to you and your company to share experiences of success in lifting HSE, and, just as importantly, of failures and the roadblocks encountered on our mission to ensure safety all the time for all of our workers. Please join us in creating a step change in safety in crane operations. Share your experiences, good and bad, for the betterment of all.
