ACS COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

ACS College of Engineering (ACSCE), Bengaluru, an NBA accredited, NAAC A accredited,

HLACT accredited, ISO certified institution, which was established in 2009 under

Moogambiga Charitable Educational Trust which is approved by All India Council of

Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological

University (VTU), Belagavi. ACSCE offers 07 Undergraduate & 4 Postgraduate courses both

in conventional and emerging areas, 04 of its Departments are recognized as Research Centers

offering PhD/M.Sc (Engineering by Research) degrees in Science, Engineering. The College

has been effectively practicing outcome based education.

Location and area: The city of Bengaluru is the gateway of Silicon Valley of India and is well

connected with all the major cities in the country by rail, road and air. The ACSCE is about

18 km from central railway station and Bus station. The campus is on 05 sprawling hectares of

land with beautiful landscapes, the campus provides an ideal environment for learning.

AJ Heuristics

AJ Heuristic is established with a motto of providing Practical experience to the Engineering

students in our country in respond to the need of industry ready engineers in the

mechanical/automobile sector. AJ Heuristic work towards helping the students to embrace the

industry requirements by delivering lectures and workshops (Hands on Experience) in Engineering and

Diploma colleges all over the country.

Our Team:

The team is formed by passionate and energetic Engineers with a rich experience in the field of

Academics and Automobile industry. The team view is to generate a strong indigenous capability to

the students in the field of Mechanical & Automobile industries. AJ Heuristic organizes training

programs where our expert faculties conduct the workshop in an interactive manner with the

participants during the course of the workshop. Various individual and team based exercises are

conducted so that our future engineers are comfortable of working with others as they are with

themselves.

About the Skill Development Program on

“IC Engine Overhauling Hands on Experience”

ACS College of Engineering, Bangalore in its efforts to create skills for the enterprising youth

who are capable of surviving in a society has been making some interventions in this direction

through its Skill Development Program. The Skill Development Programs are targeted both for

students of the various schools, colleges and universities.

This Skill Development Program is designed to impart practical and working principle

knowledge of an Internal Combustion Engine to our students.

Outcomes of the Program

Create an awareness of the working principle of an IC Engine

This enhances their level of understanding the theoretical concepts and they will be able

to apply their practical knowledge into academics

This will help them to understand basics of IC engine design, definitions, components and

their operations

Students will understand and will be able to explain the procedures for:

o Performing a preliminary engine inspection

o Identifying and interpreting engine concerns

They will be able to deal successfully with present trends in automobile industry

About the Program

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized the skill development program for the 2 nd

year and 3rd year Mechanical Engineering students. The session was handled byMr. Naveena M.

Managing Director, AJ Heuristics Bangalore.

The program has been developed to cater to spectrum of engineering students to enhance their skills

and grow their career through higher productivity and technical expertise meeting industry needs.

The program organized for Upgrading Design Engineers Skills in Product Development Support

Activities, using cutting Edge Technology Tools based on Domain Centric Professional Training

Modules.

Kit Content’s: A Single Cylinder Four Stroke Petrol Engine 150 CC and complete tool kit for

Engine Overhauling will be provided during the workshop but would be taken back after the

workshop.

Conduction of Workshop: AJ Heuristic has a dedicated team ensures that the students will have the

necessary equipment and tools to engage in various pre-determined exercises during the workshop.

These equipment’s & tools are in compliance to industry standards so that they have a simulated

experience of the industry. But above all, we have designed a proactive program to share knowledge

by making a group and each group will be provided with a set of tools and engine to have hands on

experience in Disassembly and Assembly of the Engine.

Hands on experience, where students carry out physical activities rather than listening to a

lecture, help them to gain a better understanding of the subjects. It allows students to experiment with

trial and error, learn from their mistakes and understand the potential gaps between theory and

practical applications.

Course Structure:

Introduction session – 1 hour

Lecture session – 4 hours

Design session – 2 hours

Hands on Session – 8 hours

The workshop on “IC Engine Overhauling Hands on Experience” started on 16-04-2018 as per

schedule with the welcoming of the guests Mr. Naveena M. (MD A J HEURISTIC). Our HOD Dr. H.

S. Siddesha welcomed the guests with flower bouque and Dr. P. M. Suresh PG Coordinator gave an

introduction about the guests and the workshop, how the workshop will help students understant the

working of IC Engine.

After the introduction of guests and welcomeing the session resumed afetr a tea break. The 1st

session as planned was class room session where students were briefed about the workng of IC

Engines, its mains parts etc.

The next session was hands on experience, where the studnets had disassembled the IC Engine into

parts. Befor this they were briefed as to how the students had to carry out the assigned task. Later in

the last session they had a session on the dismanteling of 2-Stroke IC Engine.

On the 2nd day, the 1st session was a class room orented where students learnt about the

subsystems of the IC Engine. Later they started to assemble back the Engine. In the last session the

students were given a demo of the carburettor with its working principle. In the last session the

students were give a small test, testing the knowledge gained by them. Mr. Kashpap P. Krishnan and

Mr. Prassana Vignesh stood 1st. later all the participants were given participation certificates.
