What is C@P?
C@P stands for Community Access Programand is a Government of Canada initiative, administered by Industry Canada.
The goal is to provide Canadians with affordable access to the Internet and the skills they need to use it effectively.

To increase the use of information and communications technology
To allow young people to gain valuable skills
The Purpose of C@P YI
About ICCNS
ICCNS is a non-profit organization that was incorporated in 2002, as the umbrella organization for all C@P Sites in our County.
There are thirteen C@P Sites and two Eastern Counties Regional Libraries within Inverness County.
You are now a C@P Youth Intern
….But, what exactly does that mean?
Essentially, you are a Computer Technology Trainer, and most of your time will be spent assisting and training individuals.
However, you have many other responsibilities in your role as a C@P Youth Intern

Promoting and Creating Awareness of the CAP Site Inform community members about the CAP site
Develop publicity and promotional materials
Organizing information fairs and other promotional events
Encourage local media to do stories on the C@P site
Training
Train the general public on basic computer and Internet use
Train specific target groups on the use of the Internet (e.g. Cybercamps)
Deliver workshops geared at specific topics of interest
Maintaining records for the C@P site
Helping manage the overall operation of the CAP site
Research and Administration
Performing customized Internet searches for specific target groups
Collecting data about the community or C@P site clients (i.e. exit polls)
Skills & Experience You Can Gain

The theme for this year’s summer youth program is “C@P in a Broadband Age”

C@P joins up with the Heart and Stroke Foundation
C@P Sites will be supplied with a kit from the Heart and Stoke Foundation
We will have pedometers available for lending and for purchase ($10).
Prizes will be awarded to the individual, C@P Site group and region with the most steps.
The intern with the most steps wins $500
