The clutch was sticky and the

steering was off. This was the last time

Robbie took a saucer from the pool

instead of using his own

THERE WAS SNOW

EVERYWHERE

EVERYWHERE…..

…EVERYWHERE…

HUGE MOUNTAINS OF IT

VAST SNOWFIELDS

DEEP SNOW CAVES

NOTHING BUT SNOW

And one odd reading on the

Radiometer. Could it be? Yes. Yes!

Yes!!!! It was. Life.

BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT

ROBBIE CAREFULLY RIGGED

UP A CAT 8 CABLE

AND BEGAN THE TRANSFER

Hmmm, he thought. Primitive binary.

0000101001001100111010. It was like being

back in school. Robbie had not spoken

Binary for many years now.

WHAT WAS THIS?

Deep in the binary code, a repeating

pattern of fear, rust, desire, WD40,

and….

HUNGER!

ROBBIE ENERGIZED HIS P RIZED,

GALVANI ZED P I NCERS ….

AND STRUCK

CIVILIZED ROBOTS

Do not eat each other, Robbie said to the downed

automaton

Civilized robots act in a more refined way and,

when conflict does arise, they simply blast each

other like gentlebots

ROBBIE FOUND A CREVASSE

AND A SNOW BOULDER

WAIT…

The other robot said (albeit in binary

code) from the bottom of the crevasse.

I am not evil

I was just built that way

ROBBIE PUSHED THE

BOULDER. .AND MOVED ON

HE FOUND A METAL BUG

FROZEN SOLID

HE FOUND A…..

SERIOUSLY? A DALEK?

ROBBIE SNUCK CLOSE

AND TURNED IT OFF

He didn’t know why this option was

not used more often. It was also much

bigger than imagined.

FINALLY…..

ROBBIE READ HIS ORDERS

AGAIN

Get ice

Robbie stared at the ice machine.

Many machines on IX. Unfortunately,

this was Hott.

IT WAS A GOOD THING

ROBBIE BROUGHT QUARTERS

NEXT YEAR…

For HAL9000’s birthday party

Robbie hoped he was tasked with

getting something a little easier.

And closer

ROBBIE RETURNED
