In the process of elevating ourselves to a world class level, we continue to take up refurbishing and renovation of our facilities from time to time. We have utilized the funds of Rs. 25 Lakhs generously donated by Dempo Charity Trust for renovating our:

a) Boiler room into a new Reading Room cum Business Centre which is equipped with a good collection of books on a variety of subjects. The Business Centre is provided with four computers having internet and WiFi connectivity 24 X 7.

b) The Seminar Halls needed complete renovation to take care of their acoustic problem, interior lights and air-conditioning. These halls/venues are where all our activities such as seminars, conferences take place. All the three seminar halls are now renovated with Armstrong ceiling and are installed with concealed lights and noiseless ductable air conditioning units. The halls now have a professional look and are appreciated by many of our regular members using the same.

c) The Lounge cum Multipurpose Hall - Abolim was under utilized as the Bar counter in this huge hall was making no way for any program or seminar to take place independently. The bar counter was shifted to the Private Dining Hall - Palki and Abolim was renovated by replacing floor tiles, upholstery for sofas and installing tower air-conditioners. This hall is now most often used by our members for various functions as a multi purpose hall.

The renovation undertaken in the last one year is so exhaustive that it has touched almost every corner of the current plot of the campus.

We constructed Ramps at various places to enable access to the physically challenged people in almost all the facilities of the Centre. Four rooms were also made disabled friendly. The rooms were renovated in 2008 but the basic requirement such as shower partition, locker in rooms and refrigerators, etc. were not provided. These facilities are now available.

We have added one more outdoor venue called La Bougainvillea and the approach road to Laran is also made disabled friendly. The inside road of our campus was also in a very bad state with pot holes visible all across. We got the dressing of these roads done by hot mixing and now the approach road is very smooth and wide.

LOOKING AHEAD PROJECTIONThe journey of 15 years of dedicated service in bringing different communities together in resolving crucial issues is being taken ahead by looking at developing the additional land allotted by the Government of Goa for our second phase expansion. The preliminary plan is ready and we are negotiating terms with the infrastructure developing agencies to go ahead with the second phase expansion, which would have a Convention Centre, an Auditorium and few guest-rooms with parking area for 500 cars.

The most urgent projects like swimming pool and recreation centre with spa, gym etc is being taken up on priority basis and is expected to be completed by end of December 2011. An estimated expenditure of Rs 80-85 Lakhs is presently being utilised from the Centre’s own funds. In this regard we would like to appeal to the philanthropists to contribute generously towards these projects. The change room and recreation centre will have open terrace which is proposed to be used as pool side cafeteria. The swimming pool is of latest technology which will have pipeless filter and liner for pool walls and floor instead of traditional tiles.

Our Rainwater Harvesting & Groundwater Recharging Project will facilitate the storage of rain water for almost 40% of our annual requirement of water for landscaping and other outdoor use. 80 % of the project cost of Rs. 4 Lakhs was supported by Bisleri. The project was designed by Earth Science Department, Goa University. The project has already conserved about 18 Lakhs litre of water this monsoon out of the proposed 25 lakhs litres to be recharged every year.

The children’s park is well underway in the next projection and may be in place by December 2011. The park with 90 feet X 27 feet dimension will have kids section with kids slide/ kids swing and kids flat see-saw and main section for children up to 15 years with Merry-Go-Round/ See-Saw/ Double Bar/ Triple swing/ Spiral and Wave slide, etc. The entire project would cost Rs 2.5 lakhs and is being sponsored by Sesa Goa Ltd. up to 80% of its cost.

We are keen to install hybrid wind-solar power system in the campus. The power thus generated will take care of all street lights and garden lights requirement thereby reducing the direct consumption of Grid supply.
