SURVEYORS Quantity Surveyors specialist in the cost

“ There will be quantity surveyor in

the quantity surveyor consultancy firm,

like what we are doing, is a consultant quantity surveyor. So, there will be quantity surveyor in the construction firm

to support the project, mainly to lies with the consultant quantity surveyor for the

project. There is also quantity surveyor in developer firm. So each one of the quantity surveyor in different type of

company are carrying a different role. The quantity surveyor in the consultancy firm, as I said, is acting as a consultant role,

meeting that the involvement will be from very basic, fundamental to very end of the

construction, the whole process, so the involvement will be from the conceptual design page, where the client would have,

for example, the conceptual design for what they are going to do on the piece of

land they own. So, from this conceptual drawing, a consultant quantity surveyor

building to come up with the feasibility

study, to see whether this proposed development, proposed product, whether

it is variable to go ahead based on the current market rate, current market demand. So, after this process, when the

project is confirm ahead, then the consultant quantity surveyor, will need to come up with the tender calling, to get in

the contractor, so this will again, involved with the tender document preparation, to

invite the contractor to tender, do the evaluation, and to advise the client on the whole tendering process on which

contractor they can go for. After the contractor being selected, the project will

be ongoing on site. Again we will need to check, to do to site evaluation for progress plan submitted by the constructor. We

need to do assess the contractor issue, to access the variation reification, and at the end we will need to come up with the

whole final account for this completed project at the end of the day, what is the

account stand for, depends on the

awarded side.

Consultant quantity surveyor play a

more productive role in the sense that they need to provide the designs.

Architects need to come out with the architectural design, with that engineers, following the architectural

layout, come out with an engineering design They are also the party that need to deal with the authority

submission for necessary approval before a project can carry out. Quantity

surveyor, in this case, base on the architectural drawing provided, need to come out with

feasibility study and also the primary cost estimation.

The cost estimation will

keep on updating according

to the progress of the design.

It’s an ongoing process,

there will be many, many

version from the initial

design of the construction

until the final accepted and

confirmed design. So, along

the way, quantity surveyor

need to do the necessary

advice from time to time

when there is a revision made. Our work depends on the

information provided by other two profession, but we are also

one of the construction team. Because cost is always the most

important matter, we need to know whether it is feasible or not,

this is actually depending on the feasibility study that were

putted up by the quantity surveyor. So, the information need to

be updated, we cannot give client an outdated advise, which is

dangerous.

work with architect

and engineer?

As a result, be interest in whatever

profession you choose as ur career. If

you have the interest of it, something

you wanted to do well, then only you

can come out with a good result,

good work, and a good output.

Otherwise, you will not do anything,

in any profession, you will not come

out with any good achievement. Excel

from your profession, you must stay

focus and work harder, and come out

with a good work. Do not worry,

other will recognize your good work,

get yourself promoted, get yourself

registered, and grow from there. So

this are all from the good work you

putted up throughout the lifespan of

your career, whatever you do, again,

stay focus.
