Policy Context:

• Digitising European Industry is a major policy of the European Commission (https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/policies/digitising-european-industry)

• DIH and Platforms are a complementary, new set of initiatives to help implement this policy

• DIH are targeting the deployment of market-ready new digital technologies and solutions in “traditional” companies with a focus on SMEs by providing Centres of Excellence that offer respective services, test & pilot-facilities up to complete digital solutions

• Digital Platforms generally aim at larger companies as innovation drivers or at whole industry sectors /

cross-sector solutions.

• To qualify for support, the following is required bythe DIH:

1. demonstrate that they are deeply rooted in innovation ecosystems that offer digital transformation services to companies in their proximity.

2. At least 50% of the budget should directly benefit SMEs or slightly bigger companies.

3. Activities should aim at long-term sustainability and include a business plan for the digital innovation hubs

4. Collaborate on building a network of Digital Innovation Hubs, covering most regions in Europe.
