DUO – project about TWO subtle volumes,
created from TWO almost similar modules
for TWO people. The title depicts
lithuanian word two [DU] + the direction
of north sign, according to the project
site.
The vacation house is located in
Lithuanian forest close to Kampuotis
lake. The surroundings are fascinating,
therefore, the building matches the
nature and at the same time disapears
among pine trees in the forest.
In this project the aesthetical approach
and harmony with nature becomes the most
important factors. This corelation helps
to feel comfort and at the same the enjoy
the beauty of nature, its wildness.
Therefore, we think that naturality,
aesthetics and closelines to nature
fullfill the requirements of this
couple.

The Japanese burned wood method, which is The Japanese burned wood method, which is
used for facades, makes the building special
due to its simplicity, naturality and
permanency.
The volume of the building is planned wisely
in order to create a space for living and
opportunity to have two working spaces
above. The interior is created as a
comfortable and natural - the main material
timber planes used for walls, rood and
flooring.
Building has simple but subtle windows, which
can be closed with shutters. That's an
important fact for vacation house.
Also, the open storage could be used to hide
bikes or other things from the rain. The
movable wall could be opened and used as a
roof from sun.

Sauna is planed in the future, therefore, it is a
separate building. It can be placed everyhwhere - it be
laid on the lake too (with panton structure). Also,
that's a potential place for Peter or their friends to
hang a hammock, use sauna and enjoy time. The volume as
well as shape of the building reflects main module of
vacation house, what helps to create correlation among
both buildings.
