About us

The charity supports the only Haemodialysis Centre in the Gambia, at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul, with dialysis and medical equipment and consumables desperately needed in order to provide free lifesaving dialysis treatment to the increasing number of patients. The charity also provides staff training and raise awareness about kidney disease. The work carried by the charity is primarily dependent of public donations and corporate donations from generous companies and orgnisations.

Our mission / vision

Our mission is to reduce patient mortality rate and improve quality of lives for kidney disease sufferers currently receiving dialysis treatment at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital’s Haemodialysis Unit in Banjul, The Gambia.

Our vision is to ensure that no kidney disease sufferers should die due to lack of adequate dialysis treatment in the Gambia, West Africa.

Changing lives

“The first time you start dialysis you feel like it’s the end of your life. But as the treatment available becomes better, I am more hopeful about my future.”

How did I get involved

• Sailey attended EDTA – European Dialysis & Transplantation Association at the Excel in London 2015

• Sailey Fadsrud was introduced to DWA / Kalpesh Shah by Nipro, who donated a Reverse Osmosis Unit.

• Then the charity needed someone to commission the RO unit and help with anything else in the unit.

• I Volunteered to commission the RO plant in the Gambia in September 2015

• Then I returned in February 2016 to carry out more work
