    Introduction to IDB Group

    The Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB Group) is a multilateral development financinginstitution comprising five entities:

    The Islamic Development Bank (IDB)Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI)Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD)Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC)International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC)The purpose of the group is to foster the economic development and social progress of its 56member countries and Muslim communities (individually as well as jointly) in accordance withthe principles of Shari'ah i.e., Islamic Law.

    The IDB Group is engaged in a range of specialized and integrated activities such as:

    Resource mobilizationPublic and private sector financingInvestmentTrade financingInsurance servicesInformation servicesResearch and training in Islamic economics and bankingTechnical assistance for capacity buildingTechnical cooperation among member countriesScholarships for students in member countries and Muslim communities in non-membercountriesDebt relief and emergency reliefIDB was formally opened on 15 Shawwal 1395H (October 20, 1975) and follows the lunar Hijrayear as the financial year. The Group's principal office is in Jeddah, KSA and the officiallanguage is Arabic with English and French being additional working languages.

    The Young Professionals Program (YPP)

    The Young Professionals Program is a starting point for an exciting career in the IslamicDevelopment Bank. The Program is designed to attract outstanding and motivated youngindividuals from around the world, who have demonstrated academic excellence combined witha commitment to development, professional achievement and potential for leadership. TheYoung Professionals (YPs) are recruited through a highly selective and competitive processthereafter facilitating their rapid integration into the business and culture of the IslamicDevelopment Bank.

    The Young Professionals Program is the main point of entry into the professional category ofthe Islamic Development Bank Group. The Program is designed to attract outstanding younggraduates who could significantly contribute to the Islamic Development Bank Group to carryout its mission and attain its objectives.

    Over a period of 18 months, the Program enables each Young Professional to receive extensiveexposure and thus attain experience of the Islamic Development Bank Group's various activitiesthrough job rotations in different departments and affiliate institutions of the Group.Participants will spend three rotations of 6 months each in 3 different departments and/oraffiliate institutions.During the Program, the participants will also benefit from coaching/mentoring arrangementsand a wide range of relevant training and developmental opportunities.

    The Young Professionals are chosen through an intensive and rigorous selection process.Competition is keen as we receive hundreds of applications each year for a limited number ofpositions, and most of the candidates exceed the minimum criteria.
