CURRENT® FAMILY

PREFACECURRENT familly’s Intelligent Data Concentrator product line offers a combination of Meter Data Collection and Low Voltage Supervisory functions in multiple product options that ensure an available offering for every installation variant. Products in this family have a superior ability to aggregate, analyze and report both meter data and low voltage (LV) measurements. In addition, the CURRENT Intelligent Data Concentrator products use meter data and LV measurements to build a market-leading set of Smart Grid applications that facilitate LV asset management, performance benchmarking and eventually enable decisions on grid optimization. The CURRENT Intelligent Data Concentrator, in this context, is designed to truly underline CURRENT’s Connected Intelligence™ concept.

Meter Data Collection FunctionalityIntelligent Data Concentrator (IDC) provides all features of a mature AMI device. Featuring in multiple rollouts and collecting data from million of meters in field from multiple venders, the IDC is an industry leading product.Low Voltage Analytics (LVA) is a flexible, cost effective sensor integrated within CURRENT’s Intelligent Data Concentrator device (models 971x).

Backend IntegrationThe CURRENT Intelligent Data Concentrator products integrate into a backend IT system, typically OpenGrid® application, over a well-defined web services interface. The interface is designed for not only device management but also transporting aggregated meter-reading data. The web services interface facilitates choice of communication media (e.g. GPRS, MV-BPL or Ethernet) and also enables 3rd party applications to integrate the CURRENT Intelligent Data Concentrator in them.

Key features and benefitsMulti-vendor interoperability

Fully interoperable with meters and back-end management systems from other vendors implementing compliant technology (i.e. PRIME & DLMS)

Field ProvenBoth, the technology and the implementation have been proven in successful mass rollouts at several utilities. Installation environments include overhead and underground networks, large transformers (> 800 meters) and large substations comprising multiple transformers.

Smart Grid advantages from a Smart Metering rollout

Includes several Smart Grid applications such as automatic phase detection, energy balancing, feeder mapping, modular digital input/output controller to name a few.

Highly integrated for outdoor installations

Product model options with ruggedized enclosure, suitable for direct outdoor installation without requiring additional cabinets.

Scalable solution for multi-transformer substations

Together with repeater devices, offers coverage on all transformers at large multi-transformer substations with a single data concentrator function.

Fully Managed SolutionOpenGrid based management greatly reduces total cost of ownership with savings in turn-key provisioning, meter data collection, Smart Grid analytics and several other Head End System (HES) features.
