Idea Store Events and ActivitiesOver the next two months, we have a whole host of activities and events for you to enjoy from; storytelling, arts and crafts to exhibitions and more. Celebrations include National Bookstart Week, Adult Learners Week, Father’s Day and half term activities for children. We also have a brand new Idea Store opening in May.

Idea Store Watney Market Idea Store Watney Market, the latest addition to the borough’s innovative library and learning services, opens its doors to the public on Tuesday 14 May 2013.

Located on Commercial Road, the new store is larger than the library it’s replacing, and is based on three floors with a wide range of services on offer.

The new £4.5 million Idea Store, which is jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the council, includes an integrated One Stop Shop where residents can access council services. It will provide adult, youth and children’s library services complemented by a ground-floor space which can host a range of community facilities, including advice on council and health services.

The new Idea Store will also be distinguished by its green credentials. As an eco-friendly building it boasts of a living green roof planted with vegetation which will absorb rainwater, provide insulation and create a habitat for wildlife. The building will also have concrete plates which will allow the Idea Storeto heat up and cool down without the use of an air conditioning system andwill be quadruple glazed insulating the building efficiently.
