Introduction

Running is my passion.

One year ago, I ran a long distance race for the first time. Since that, running has become my passion.

It has many impacts on my life.

The impacts on my personality…

Running is very effective for a good health.

It develops a better self-confidence, which is essential to succeed in sports, studies, or professional careers.

The impacts on my personality…

I have learned how to control myself.

Moreover, it enables me to relax and to be calm instead of being nervous.

The impacts on my personality…

It is motivating to define an objective and to train to reach it the day of the race.

Jogging five times per week is the better way to be dynamic and enterprising in my daily life.

The impacts on my personality…

My days are organized so that I can focus my energy and my mind for a long time.

Then, I go running, listening to the music, which helps me to unwind.

The impacts on my personality…

… change my view of life.

… change my view of life.

After my first marathon, I made a parallelism between this race and life.

I have realized that I have to struggle to reach my objectives.

I have to keep fighting, even when it is hard.

… change my view of life.

Besides, it is pointless to panic and to give up.

In this case, I will have regrets, which is, in my opinion, the worst sensation.

… change my view of life.

If I don’t succeed, I have to raise the face instead of being disappointed.

If I reach my goal, it is a wonderful sensation.

In both cases, I have to find arguments to get motivated for the next events.

All these factors help me to forge a solid spirit.

Page 17: IE Business School

I always want to work harder and run faster, no matter the conditions.

When I want to get better, nothing could discourage me.

This state of mind is important because I always want to improve what I am doing.

… change my view of life.

Character traits influence directly the behavior of someone.

Running has affected my life, and in particular my professional life.

The effects on my work…

I have learned how to manage stress and difficulties.

It will certainly help me in my professional life.

When I realize that I have a lot of work, I breathe deeply and carry on, without panic.

Page 23: IE Business School

The effects on my work…

I have learned to be proud of myself.

I also know how to motivate myself or my colleagues, and to keep calm under pressure.

The effects on my work…

For instance, when we have to do something and that there is a deadline.

Instead of telling that it is too late, we should do our best and work efficiently.

Page 26: IE Business School

The effects on my work…

The daily training makes me more and more exigent in all what I undertake.

Thus, I always try to aim harder goals, and to do more than what I am asked to do.

This strength does not apply only to sports.

… improve my performances.

Since I take part in official races, I have got into the habit of having this rush of adrenalin.

Being in competition with students or withrivals dos not trouble me.

… improve my performances.

Running marathons made me realize that I always have to keep fighting.

Running during many hours has taught me how to focus until I reach my goal.

… improve my performances.

Making and following a plan makes me more organized even in my professional life.

Therefore, I have learned to schedule mypriorities.

Conclusion

Running my first marathon may be the most important decision taken in my life.

It has definitely improved my personality and my philosophy of life.

It makes me stronger, especially facing hard events.

"I have learned that finishing a marathon is not just an athletic achievement. It is a state of mind; a state of mind that says anything is possible." John Hanc.
