A visual learning process in awareness and remembrance of our heritage…

It is now a commonplace to note that we live in a massively visual society today. Social life is visual in diverse and counterintuitive ways. Consequently, there are many more forms of visual data than simple images that we can bring into the classroom. Objects, memorials and buildings carry meanings through visual means just like pictures. In our houses, streets and squares there are rich supplies of materials for exploring linguistic and cultural diversity. In this workshop we explore objects collected within different environments and supplement them with personal stories and biographies. The benefit of these explorations is the discovery of the cultural and linguistic heritage of each participant. Empowering objects with words, stories and comments gives the participants an original means to verbalize their way of thinking. In addition, through enquiry, we will be able to identify changes in their local or regional environment. This kind of exercise raises awareness of the passing of time, of the importance of remembering certain moments from the past and anticipating activities in the future. During the presentations the participants will become aware of their own and their partners’ interests and profiles through discussions about objects, images and narratives about daily activities or rituals. If you choose this workshop, would like you to bring some material with you. - A (local or regional) newspaper - Each participant will have to select six objects at home and will bring them in a (shoe) box. The selected objects must be linked to

1. your own biography or your family heritage 2. a postcard of neighbourhood or a local/historical story of your community 3. your travel experiences 4. your profession or leisure time 5. a picture of a piece of art that you like in relation to your heritage If the selected objects are too big or too fragile to brought, a picture will do just as well.

Estratégias pedagógicas para educar para a cidadania no ensino básico

Este workshop destina-se a docentes e professores do ensino básico (1.º, 2.º e 3.º ciclos) interessados em aprofundar e aperfeiçoar conhecimentos e competências que visam a educação para a cidadania em vários contextos, particularmente na escola, de forma disciplinar (formação cívica), transdisciplinar e interdisciplinar. Debate-se um conjunto de oito temáticas associadas à promoção da cidadania, bem como uma metodologia de natureza construtivista incluindo estratégias que mobilizem os domínios cognitivo; afectivo-motivacional, social e comportamental, nas diferentes etapas do desenvolvimento humano. Os oito temas sugeridos são as concepções, atitudes e comportamentos que se referem: ao Estado e à nacionalidade; à religião; às relações do ser humano com a natureza e organização sócio-económica; à estrutura e papel da família, juntamente com os papéis associados ao género; aos aspectos relacionados com a saúde e segurança; às diferentes etnias e culturas; à civilidade e convivência social e à utilização das tecnologias da informação e comunicação.

Workshop baseado na experiência do ACIDI e do projecto “Aprender e Cooperar na Diversidade”, e no extenso trabalho de educação inclusiva do ACIDI / Entrecultturas (projectos com o apoio e consultadoria de Mel Ainscow) destinado aos envolvidos na educação e na escola.
