摘 要

High Efficiency WLAN Study Group,此研究群組主要在討論下世

代Wi-Fi技術的制定,此技術需能解決 Cellular網路擁塞之 offload情

境與應用下所面臨之問題,包括大量行動裝置(STA)之擁塞網路、大

量接取點(AP)之擁塞異質網路及室外佈建情境下之效能提升。此 SG

將 Focus在 2.4G/5G頻帶進行 802.11 PHY/MAC規格之修訂,目前的

進度已經有整理出一份各家大廠同意的主要應用情境,各家大廠有分

別提案討論自己的物理層技術。

技術貢獻

此次會議主要以觀察目前High Efficiency WLAN Study Group 以

及802.11WG的工作群組之進展。

會議解說

由於TGac目標在年底完成Sponsor Ballot,因此802.11WG的大多

數公司漸將佈局轉往Next Generation WLAN的新標準制定,High

Efficiency WLAN研究群組。此研究群組將負責研擬範圍、使用情境、

決定效能指標及制定PAR與5C。 其目標設定為具體提升下世代Wi-Fi

技術之頻譜效能與區域資料吞吐量以滿足使用者之Quality of

Experience,新技術將Focus在2.4G/5G頻帶進行802.11 PHY/MAC規格

之修訂以解決下世代802.11所面臨到之三大課題,包括大量行動裝置

(STA)之擁塞網路、大量接取點(AP)之擁塞異質網路及室外佈建情境

下之效能提升。這部分目前參與的廠商以及人數也是最多的,將是未

來我們需持續關注並積極參與技術部局之重點,目前已經有整理出一

份各家大廠同意的主要應用情境,各大廠商分別有提出一些技術討

論,主席也有整理出一份文件表明現在討論的一些可能性技術。

為了確認 HEW SG所討論的 Usage Model具有合理性,HEW SG請求WiFi Alliance

(WFA) 針對 Usage Model給予回饋;經過幾次會期討論,此次會議 HEW SG正式

通過相關文件交與WFA,重點內容如下:

2013年 5月,IEEE802.11工作組通報了WFA新的高效率的無線局域網(HEW)

SG,和其有關的工作相關的使用模式的定義。隨著科技的發展,HEW使用模式的

初稿,整理如下,值得注意的是第四跟第五項,一個是室外的使用環境,另一個則

新興應用層面的發展。

7. 心得與建議

目前在802 LMSC中參與最為火熱的任務群組,是802.11。802.11 WiFi

提供便捷的無線應用環境,使得WiFi已成為目前裝置上網的重要接取

技術,從與會人數統計, IEEE 802.11標準成為IEEE最受重視的無線通

訊標準,與會人數比其他IEEE無線標準多,此次802.11會議即有296人

參加,是其他無線標準2倍以上,較上次會期增加42人。

因為行動通訊之Traffic Offload與智慧手機上網之需求,WiFi上網裝

置數量急遽上升,衝擊原有Un-Licensed頻段之頻譜利用效率,無論是

雲端運算應用的資料傳輸量跟影音資料傳輸量的預估,在2017年之前都

會有驚人的成長;為解決這些問題以符合巨大市場之需求,HEW SG相

關技術受到各通訊公司重視,參與人數明顯高於其他群組;在各方看好

的情況,且802.11ac等標準陸續進入收尾階段,HEW標準將持續吸引更

多公司加入制定。

IEEE 802.11WG本次會議重點仍在HEW SG上。HEW SG將於2014年5

月前完成PAR與5C並且於7月正式成立TG;HEW將在現有基礎上持續

進行包括usage models之討論,並且將制定Channel models及Evaluation

Methodology與Simulation Scenarios等文件,方便在擬定PAR與5C的現

階段,能儘速確認Scope與需求。另外HEW也已開始著手討論functional

requirements。

由於HEW代表著下世代的WLAN技術,除了Spectrum Efficiency進行

一步提升外, Area Throughput的提升將會是一大特點,而這也將是有

較大幅度進行標準設計變更之機會,我們需持續從應用場景去著手,進

行相關技術之先期佈局,以求能在此標準技術掌握關鍵之核心技術,協

助國內建立在WLAN的essential IPR。
