Seminar Information

Seminar will be one full day, 14May(Wed), 9:30a-6:00p Hosted by Sony Corporation Breaks, lunch and reception afterwards in room next to

seminar hall (divided large hall) Morning session will be 3 hours, afternoon session 4 hours All sessions will have simultaneous English/Japanese

translation Rehearsal with translators 13May(Tue), 4:00p-6:00p

Familiarize translators with material Slides will be shown on two screens, with two options:

1) Both in English2) One in English and one in Japanese

Japanese slides will be shown only if speaker provides a Japanese version of their slides

Morning Session (Tentative)

Welcome & Introduction (5 min) – Chuck Adams (IEEE-SA President-Elect & CAG Chair)

Welcome Keynote (15 min) – K. Kimura (or alternate Senior Sony Executive)

Can perhaps include discussion on coexistence and interoperability based on IEEE standards

Japanese government/ministry presentations (40 min) MIC (20 min) – M. Matsumoto (Director General for Technology Policy

Coordination Minister’s Secretariat) Perhaps include discussion of their Cognitive Radio Study Group

METI (20 min) – K. Hirota (Secretary General of JISC, Director General for Technical Regulations, Standards and Conformity Assessment Policy Unit)

Alternate: A. Izumi (Director of Standardization Office for IT and Electrotechnology)

Selected standards themes as appropriate to their offices Perhaps include discussion of regulatory environment that affects

standards process

Topics for the afternoon will be technical, covering 5 areas of IEEE-SA & especially Corporate Program activities

1-2 speakers (preferably Japanese) per topic (20-30 min each)

Battery standards (45 min) Battery Association of Japan will provide 2 speakers (20 min

each)

Design automation (45 min) DASC will provide 2 speakers (20 min each) Dennis Brophy to confirm speakers at IEEE DASC / IEC

meeting, 24 Jan in Japan Broadband over power lines (30 min)
