S.O. 2693(E).-ln exercise of powers conferred by sub-scction (l) of section 8 ofthe Cable TclevisionNetworks (Regulation) Act, 1995 (hereinafter refened to as "the Act") (7 of 1995) and in superscssion ofnotifications numbers S.O. 823(E) dated the l3d September, 2000, No.l6( I ycable-2005-E-llI dated i5d February.

2005 and S.O.l88l(E) dated 6th Nov€mber,2007, the Central Government hereby spccifies the names ofchannelsto be re-bansmitted by the cable op€rators in their cable services and the manner ofreception and re-transmission ofsuch channels, namely :-

. l. Where digital addressable system has been intfoduced in acaordance with the provisions ofsub-section( I ) of section 4A ofthe Ac! following channels are to be mandatorily carried by the cable operators , namely:

Provided that every cable operator shall provide the above chasnels to the subscribers, irrespective ofanybouquel(s) or ala-carte channel(s) being subscribed by them.

Provided further that every cable operator shall also place the above channels in the respective genre andshall display them in full television screen.

,.2. Where digital addressable system has not been introduced in accordance with the provisions ofsub-section' (l) of section 4A of the Act, it shall be obligatory for every cable operator to provide following channels to the

subscribers, namely : -

3. Every cable operator shall ,-(i) take only C-band satellite signals of Doordanhan channels for ren-ansmission on their cabl€ service

by dish antenna / Television Receive only ofnot less than 12 feet diameter dish, and not Yagi antennato ensure good quality reception ;

(ii) not transmit any channel on the cable service in the same frequency band in which Doordarshantenestsial channels are transmiited ;

(iii) use standard e4uipment to ensure good quality reception and re-transmission of all mandatorychannels upto tail-end subscribers comparable with other satellite channels.

Erplanation : For the purpose of this notification, the expression "prime band" constitutes frequencies relating tochannel falling in band I (channels 2 to 4 ranging from 47 to 68 MHz) and band III (channels 5 to I2ranging from 174 to 230 MHz) and "non-prime band" shall be construed accordingly, in relation to"prime band".
