High reading reliability:Automatic setting of theexposure time, adaptation bysegmented lighting for criticalsurfaces.
Intelligence in the sensor:Verifier system reduces datatransmission.
Flexible connection:RS-232 and Ethernet TCP/IPinterface.
Quick in the process:Object speeds of up to 7 m/s.
Compact integration:Illumination, optics, evaluationand interfaces in an industriallycompatible housing.
Easy handling:The system is configured andready for use within a fewminutes – with PC software ordirectly on the sensor.
Multicode reader type O2IThe compact all-rounder.
The compact unit is installed using thesuitable mounting set and connectedto the controller (PLC) via the processinterface.Parameter setting is done via anEthernet cable using a common PC.
Powerfulidentification.
In addition to theData Matrix codeECC200, the ifmmulticode readerhandles further2D and 1D codes.Reading is notdependent on theorientation of thecode to the sensor.Even damaged orsoiled codes arereliably identified, even if 28 % of theinformation hasbeen damaged.
Further functionsinclude the outputof the codeposition via theprocess interface, adjustable total

quality parame-ters, individualillumination set-tings for eachconfiguration in agroup, integratedfault memory andaccess protectionwith password.
The professionalsoftware of themulticode readertakes the highreading reliabilityof the Data Matrixcode to a newdimension.
Top choice forprice/performance:the multicodereader provideshigh functionalityand performanceat the price of asensor.
Optimumillumination.
In addition to anautomatic expo-sure setting, manual adjustmentis also possible.Four lightingsegments can bedeactivated andactivated manu-ally. So optimumresults are achiev-ed even withhighly reflectivemetal surfaces.
The ifm multicode reader detectsnumerous 2D and 1D codes. The standardised 2D code can beapplied in different ways: printed onpaper, engraved by laser or dot-peened onto a metal surface.
Production control for solar modulesof the company Conergy AG:the decision in favour of the multi-code reader was taken due to its highreading rate. The compact dimensionsand the integrated lighting ensureinstallation requiring only little space.
O2I in theapplication.
There is a widerange of applica-tions for the multi-code reader inindustry – fromproduct trackingand productioncontrol to productidentification. They are used forthe automotive
and food indus-tries, conveying, the production ofsolar installationsas well as machinetools and printmachines.

Plug and play:Cost reduction with quick andeasy set-up.
Efficient:Connection of up to 31 RFIDreaders to one AS-i master.
Safe:High reading reliability forcompact design.
Ready for operationat once:No programming for read / writesystems with AS-Interface.The stored value is automaticallyprovided by the transponderwhen the antenna is passed.
Certified:The AS-Interface certificationguarantees interoperability inautomation technology.
RFID system DTS125Keep track of the workpiece.
Plug and Play also for the hardware:connection via M12 connector or AS-isplitter box. The DTS125 system canbe integrated into AS-i networks inno time and is ready for operationimmediately. In addition to the lowercost for hardware, this also saves timeduring set-up.
The DTS125 RFID system ensuressmooth logistics flow on a productionline for transmissions. All workpiececarriers can be identified by meansof RFID. Optical processes such as barcodes were eliminated due to thesevere operating conditions (oils, metal swarf).
The DTS125 RFidentificationsystem from ifm isan industriallycompatible identi-fication system in125 KHz techno-logy. It is the firstRFID system forAS-Interfaceworldwide.

The requirementsof harsh industrialenvironments aremet by a stablemetal housing, awide temperaturerange and thehigh protectionrating IP 67.
The new RFIDevaluation unitDTE100 has fourantenna connec-tions, which canalternatively beused as digitalI/Os. The antennasare connected viastandardised M12connectors.
The standard pinassignment of theI/O connectionsensures that
common sensorsor actuators aredirectly connectedand powered fromthe RFID evalu-ation unit.
LF and HFtransponder.
In addition to LFtransponders withup to 2-Kbitmemory, the prod-uct portfolio ofifm electronic alsocovers HF tran-sponders with16 Kbits as FRAMversion which canbe rewritten anunlimited numberof times.
All connections are for standard M12connectors. Current is also directlysupplied via an M12 connection. The wide range of accessories suchas Profibus connection cables andterminating resistors facilitate thesystem set-up.
DTE100 in theapplication.
The RFID systemplatform is widelyused in productionfor identifyingtools or monitor-ing productionsteps.
Data can be savedand read in thetransponder as onan electronic routecard.
Further applica-tions can be foundin quality assur-ance, in the auto-motive industry aswell as in automa-tion and convey-ing.
Easy use andflexible parametersetting allow theuser to solve eachidentification taskprecisely andwithout any prob-lems.

Up to 2 m:Mid range antenna for the reliableidentification of larger units, e.g.on a conveyor belt.
Ultra low and lowrange antennas.
These antennasare distinguishedby the near field. In order to achievea high selectivity, the smallestpossible designsare used as theymanage shortreading ranges.
Mid rangeantennas.
Due to its smallerdimensions themid range antennais chosen forapplications in thenear / far field withreading ranges ofup to 2 m.
Wide rangeantennas.
With an angle ofaperture of 30°these antennashave been devel-oped for appli-cations in the farfield where read-ing ranges ofup to 10 m arerequired.
Up to 20 cm:(Ultra) low range antenna for theselective detection of individualproducts in the close range.
DTE800 in theapplication.
The UHF systemplatform from ifmelectronic is usedin production, intralogistics andconveying due tothe application-specific antennas.
Goods such aspackaging orpallets can bedetected withoutcontact.
The UHF RFID isoptimised forapplications inproduction andmaterial flowcontrol, the assetand supply chainmanagement aswell as track &trace.

Efficient control of processes with RFID.
The DTE100 RFID system can beoperated with different antennas with125 KHz (LF) or 13.56 MHz (HF).
Inductive RFIDtechnology
The RFID system(Radio FrequencyIDentification)from ifm electron-ic generates anelectromagneticfield for readingand writing ofdata. The electro-magnetic fieldemitted by theantenna inducesvoltage in thepassive ID tag(transformerprinciple).
This activates theID tag (transpon-der) which returnsits code. Process-ing of the codeand transmissione.g. to the AS-In-terface are carriedout in the read /write head.Advantage: reli-able data trans-mission in dynamicreading processesDepending onapplication, range, data volumes, andread / write dis-tances different
RFID frequenciesare used, e.g.125 KHz (LF),13.56 MHz (HF),868 MHz (UHF,Europe) and 913MHz (UHF, USA).
