Easy installation:quick wiring via M8 connector.

The family is growingThe T-slot cylinder sensor with integral M8 connector onthe housing is available as an electronic version or with areed element.In addition to the two flat standard versions designedfor C-slots and T-slots, further applications can now beconveniently implemented thanks to the new design.Thus, the sensor can for example be easily wired fromthe control cabinet to the cylinder in special machines.The position of the M8 connector on the sensor resultsin space savings in the cable duct. Furthermore, the en-tanglement in cable loops is minimized.

Good fixing and easy installationThe ifm sensor has the following advantages: self-lockingmechanism, strain relief, drop from the top into the slot,adapters for further cylinder types.

A sensor for high demandsFor applications with high load currents up to 500 mAthe family of T-slot cylinder sensors now features corre-sponding sensors. They can be reliably adapted to allcommon cylinder types.The self-locking mechanism as well as the easy positio-ning in the T-slot allow comfortable one-hand installa-tion. The sensor is fixed by a combined head screw. Thisalso provides excellent strain relief.

Applicationsefector valvis has been designed for feedback of posi-tions on single, double seat and diaphragm valves up toa stroke of 80 mm.The optional adapters allow installation of the sensor tothe most common valve types.

Feedback via AS-iIn addition to the binary 24 V DC version the output sig-nals of efector valvis can now be transferred directly viathe AS-i bus. Up to 31 sensors can be connected to onemaster.AS-i power and communication errors are indicated byLEDs on the unit.

If things are getting heated!In case of ambient temperatures up to 180 °C, powerfulelectronics should be cooled to protect them from over-heating. Using the cooling box, the distance sensor O1Dwith PMD technology can now also prove its performancein hot applications such as in the steel industry.

Cooling or protection boxAfter connection to a cooling circuit via the standardised3/8" tube connections, the temperature on the inside ofthe cooling box can be cooled down to an “electronics-friendly” temperature. If you screw off the tube connec-tions, the box can be used as pure protection box forvery harsh operating conditions.

ApplicationsWhenever there is little space for sensors or when smallparts are to be detected, the small photoelectric sensorsof the O7 series are the ideal problem solvers. Typicalapplications are feeding and handling technology. Theuser can choose between units with PNP or NPN output.

AdvantagesThe small light spot and the narrow light cone enable thedetection of small objects even over long distances. Withtheir fixed setting, the sensors are ready for operationimmediately after installation (plug & play). Measurement techniqueThe flow sensor is based on Faraday’s principle of induc-tion.The conductive medium flowing through a pipe in a mag-netic field generates a voltage which is proportional tothe flow velocity or flow rate.

Device functionThis voltage is detected via electrodes and converted inthe evaluation electronics.Analogue, binary and pulse outputs offer various possi-bilities to process the measured data. Due to the flexibleprogramming by means of pushbuttons the flow sensorcan be adapted to different conditions. The sensor ismounted via an adapter. A high protection rating and arobust compact housing distinguish the sensor in the field.

Calorimetric measuring principleThe compressed air meter detects the standard volumeflow directly (according to ISO 2533). This makes correc-tions, in case of temperature or pressure fluctuations,unnecessary. Compact pressure sensorfor applications in roboticsand handling.

PQ pressure sensor – for pneumatic applicationsThe new pressure sensors of the PQ series are based on apiezoresistive measuring element and are distinguished byan extremely compact housing and a wide range of pos-sible applications. The units precisely measure the pressurein the negative pressure and overpressure range in pneu-matic applications. The silicon measuring cell is insensitiveto liquids (e.g. condensed water) and deposits that mightoccur in the system.

Technical detailsThe silicon measuring cell used guarantees a high overloadresistance as well as an accuracy of ± 0.5 %. The sensorcan be programmed using two pushbuttons. The two-colour, four-digit display makes the system pressure visiblefrom a distance in normal operation.

Mounting optionsThe sensor can be fixed to flat surfaces and profilesusing the two M4 drill holes on the front. It can be fixed toa DIN rail using the robust DIN rail clip, which is securedagainst inadvertent movement. The sensor is screwed tothe clip.Installation with an optional double nipple with 1/8"thread is even easier. Using this nipple, the sensor can befixed to the pipe or air-ducting plate and aligned at thesame time – quickly and easily.

Quick and easy parametersetting of IO-Link sensors.

ApplicationThe memory plug is used where sensor data are to becopied or stored. This could for instance be the case whena defective unit needs to be replaced or several sensorswith the same parameter settings are installed.The memory plug reads and stores the data from a con-nected IO-Link sensor. If the user then connects a sensorof the same type with factory settings, the data recordstored on the memory plug will be copied onto the newsensor.

AdvantagesThe use of the memory plug saves time that would other-wise be needed for re-programming the sensor. Moreover,by copying the data, errors during re-parameterisationare avoided.

Functionality

The memory plug allows easy storing or copying of para-meters via an automatic parameter exchange. To do so,the memory plug is inserted in the supply and switchingoutput cable of a device. During power-on or when con-necting a device to the supplied memory plug, the dataexchange is automatically carried out.

If the memory plug is empty it automatically stores thedata of a connected sensor, including type.

Then the stored data can be transferred to as many sen-sors of the same type (= same device ID) as desired.

Furthermore, you can write-protect the memory plug orremove this write protection via the FDT container. Inaddition, you can write on and block the memory plugvia the FDT container.

Even without a PC the write protection can be activatedor deactivated and the factory setting restored by meansof the teach button, available as an accessory.

The ifm OPC server software provides a software inter-face which standardises the data from the ifm electronicdiagnostic electronics VSE and the Multicode Reader forintegration into a higher level system.The software licenses are divided into four levels and aredependant on the number of networked units.Different OPC client programmes process the availableOPC data enabling a wide variety of user scenarios.Using the diagnostic electronics VSE it is possible to ex-port and describe vibration characteristics and monitor-ing parameters, previously set using a configuration soft-ware, such as switch points, trigger and speed signals.For the Multicode Reader the OPC server also offersstandardized access to decoded reading results and vari-ous parameters.

The additional 2.8 mm spring contacts allowthe use of solid state and logic relays with diagnosticcapability.In order to protect the individual load circuits there areten locations for automotive fuses available.By a common power rail and additional star points theload currents in the module can be distributed. Theintegrated, confusion-free screw terminals allow for aconnection to the battery cables. This means that nofurther external terminals are needed for the wiring.The wiring of the relay locations and fuse contacts isdone on the spot with easy-to-install cable links or aready-to-use cable tree.

Due to an increase of the pro-tection rating through a cover and a pluggable cableseal the BasicController can also be used in areas thatare exposed to splashing water.

• The powerful electronicsThe integrated 32-bit processor and the electronicsare optimally tailored to the application. By means ofthe application software the inputs and outputs canbe configured to adapt to the respective application.A status LED indicates the current operating status ofthe module.

• Programming to IEC 61131-3The CoDeSys software enables a clear and easy creationof the application software for the user. The controlmodule BasicController supports all common CoDeSysprogramming languages. For communication and spe-cial unit functions simple and clearly structured func-tion libraries are available.

• The communication interfaces

The BasicController is equipped with two CAN interfacesto ISO 11898. These interfaces are for example used toexchange data with the connected BasicDisplay, furtherBasicController modules or the engine controller. Theinterfaces support the CANopen and the J1939 protocolamong others.

For programming, the CAN interfaces are used as well.To do so, the unit electronics are directly and conveni-ently activated via the powerful PC-CAN interface CANfox. In this way, operating system and application pro-gramme can be loaded or parameters changed.
