SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVATIONS LOS SANTOS Y OTRAS CELEBRACIONES

Sacred Heart Parish School is dedicated to educating the whole child. We are com-mitted to instilling the ideals of service, justice, and compassion in each of our stu-dents. As part of this commitment, we strive to offer enriching experiences that will build our students’ social skills, leadership abilities, and moral awareness, no matter whether they are just beginning their formal education in preschool or whether they are eighth graders preparing for the rigors of high school.

Sacred Heart Parish School has been educating students in the Hollister community for 125 years. This strong sense of tradition can be seen in our large and diverse array of alumni, each of whom were impacted by the Catholic education provided at Sacred Heart. Nestled in downtown Hollister, Sacred Heart seeks to provide our students with a well-rounded and faith-filled education. Together with our school’s families, we help our students to be academically prepared and grounded in gospel values by providing them an environment where they feel safe to grow, learn, and develop. We provide our students with support that strengthens their spiritual and moral guidance.

Sacred Heart Parish School is committed to faith, service, and academic excellence. We believe these are the cornerstone values of educating faith-filled and intellectual citizens. Our students’ development is not limited only by the classes they take as part of the regular curriculum. Recognizing the necessity of educating the whole student, we provide opportunities in music, physical education, technology, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Spanish, and other electives. Through their experiences at Sacred Heart, students will be able to observe life through a creative, analytical, and ethical perspective.

In sum, Sacred Heart Parish School is a community committed and rooted in service, justice, and compassion. We welcome you and thank you for being a part of our community.

God Bless,

Dr. Rachel McKenna, Principal

OurLadyofFatima’sPromiseforWorldPeace When Our Lady appeared at Fatima in 1917, She said that She would return to “ask for the Consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart” in order to bring peace to the world. She warned that if Her requests were not granted Russia will spread its errors throughout the world. Our Lady appeared to, Sister Lucia, in June 1929, to tell her that “the moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of world, the Consecration of Russia to My immaculate Heart, promising to convert and save Russia bythismeans.” Sister Lucia, for more than seventy years, explained in numerous letters, memoirs and statements, both private and pub-lic, that the only way this request can be ful illed is for the Pope, together with all the Catholic bishops to perform this con-secration onthesamedayand atthesamehour in a solemn and public ceremony. Sister Lucia repeatedly af irmed Our Lady’s warning that until this request is heeded, the world will be punished by war, famine, persecution of the Church and the Holy Father, and the annihilation of various nations Sister Lucia died on February 13, 2005. Still, in 2018, Our Lady’s request for Russia’s consecration remains unful illed. The grievous results are everywhere to be seen: tens of millions of abortions each year, bloody con lict in country after country, chaos and confusion in our Church, the disintegration of family life, violence, drugs and disorder our cities and schools. Now is the time when everyCatholic needs to stand up and be counted in the effort to ful ill Our Lady’s request for Rus-sia’s consecration. We ask you to add your name to those of millions of faithful Catholics, respectfully asking the Holy Fa-ther to ful ill Our Lady’s request for the Consecration of Russia. Please complete, cut and mail the petition below. The Fati-ma Center will forward your petition to the Holy Father.

________________________________________________________________________________________

First Saturday Devotion

How to Fulfill the Five First Saturday Devotion as Requested by Our Lady of Fatima

The following is an explanation of the conditions contained in Our Lady’s request regarding the Communion of Rep-aration on five consecutive first Saturdays of the Month. She promised all the graces necessary for Heaven if a Catho-lic faithfully completes this devotion by assisting them at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation.

The elements of this devotion consist of the following four actions, all of which must be offered with the intention of making reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

Confession: This confession can be made a week before or after the First Saturday, provided that Holy Communion be received in the state of grace.

Holy Communion: Receiving and offer ing Holy Communion in reparation to Our Lady. If work, school, sickness or another just reason prevents Communion on a First Saturday, with permission from a priest it may be re-ceived the following Sunday along with any or all of the other acts of this devotion if desired.

Rosary: Pray 5 decades of the Rosary while meditating upon the myster ies of Our Lord’s life, passion and Our Lady’s life. It must be offered in reparation and said properly while meditating.

15-Minute Meditation: Keeping company with Our Lady for an additional fifteen minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.

You may ask “Why Five Saturdays?” Our Blessed Lord answered this question in an apparition to Sister Lu-cia. He explained that it was because of five kinds of offenses and blasphemies against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, namely: blasphemies against her Immaculate Conception, against her perpetual virginity, against the divine and spiritu-al maternity of Mary, blasphemies involving the rejection and dishonoring of her images, and the neglect of implanting in the hearts of children a knowledge and love of this Immaculate Mother.

We recite the First Saturday Rosary devotion, with pro-life meditations, in English at 3:45pm prior to the 4:30pm first Saturday Mass at St. Benedicts Church. Come join us!

¡Únase a nosotros!
