I. Bible – Positive Action for Christ, Building Life Castles• These studies will include the life

of Christ from the gospels, a study of the Holy Spirit from the Gospels, Acts and Epistles, an understanding of how Christian character develops using Paul’s epistles and the life of Paul from the Book of Acts.

• Character traits we hope to develop are: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness, self - control, forgiveness, honesty, responsibility, and respect for themselves, others and other’s property.

• Students memorize 1 verse a week.

II. Reading – A Beka• Salute to Courage, Liberty Tree,

Flags Unfurled, Trails to Explore, Adventures in Other Lands, AND Song of the Brook. - Students read orally out of their reading books, are tested regularly for fluency, speed and comprehension

• Students will learn to write strong book reports.

III. Penmanship – A Beka, Penmanship Master 1• Students work each day on improving

their penmanship and writing skills.

IV. Spelling & POETRY – A Beka, Spelling, vocabulary, Poetry 4• Students study spelling and

vocabulary words each week and are tested.

• They learn to use spelling and vocabulary words in context and discover how to write great sentences.

V. Math – Saxon, Math 54• Students work on addition, subtraction,

multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, polygons, word problems, units of measure, multiples, exponents, square roots, area, perimeter, graphs, estimating, roman numerals, as well as combination problems.

VI. Language – A Beka, God’s Gift of Language A• Students have daily hands on

experience with parts of speech, dictionary and encyclopedia skills, and

proper sentence structure.

VII. History – McGraw Hill, California - Adventures in Time and Place• Students cover the geography of

California, Native Americans, Europeans, Spanish (including California Missions, Mexican Influence, Gold Rush, Statehood, and progess in California today).

• Students will create a replica of a California Mission.

• Students will create the flags of California

VII. Science – A Beka, Understanding God’s World• This book covers insects, plants,

birds, matter, energy, geology, oceanography, and astronomy.

• Students will participate in science experiments regularly.

• Students will learn how to create their own Science project.

VIII. ART – Crafts and projects in class• Coloring, watercoloring, crafts,

projects, and various other media
