CURRENT POSITION: Professor in Electrical and Electronic Eng. and head

of Department of Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Eng. at Science & Research Branch, Islamic Azad University, Tehran-Iran

CAREER SUMMARY: In 1979 I went to the UK to study under an Iranian

scholarship. My academic studies started with an Ordinary National Diploma in engineering through to a Doctorate in microwave engineering. After the award of a BSc in Communications Engineering from Leeds Becket University I enrolled on MPhil studies based on two years of research. During my studies I was supported by UK industry as well as money from the Research Council. My research involved the writing of diverse computer programmes for microwave sub-systems such as amplifiers, filters etc. This was very novel at the time. The strength of the research group rested on the practical implementation of any theoretical work. I am therefore familiar with the construction of circuits and the use of microwave measuring equipment. Such equipments were power meters, spectrum analysers and network analysers to mention but a few. For my work I was awarded an MPhil. To widen my experience and further my education and with support from the Iranian authorities I continued my research for a PhD at Bradford University. The research topic was on Design & Construction of a Tuneable Dielectric Loaded Cavity Filter in Hybrid Modes using Ferrite Materials. This involved dual mode cavity resonator filters at microwave frequencies and implementation of DRs in reducing size as well as weight and finally make it tuneable with the help of ferrite materials at the presence of some variable magnetic fields. In the process a complicated model was developed. After its completion I was awarded a PhD. Then I followed a two years of postdoctoral research at the Nottingham University doing research on Microwave Cooking of Advanced Materials. In 1995 I returned to Iran where I accepted a position of lecturer at the Islamic Azad University. My duties cover a wide spectrum from administration to research and teaching.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE: One of the most rewarding aspects of an academic position is the

opportunity to teach and interact with students. Whether or not they realize

it, students have the freedom to explore and to think about problems in new

ways. As teachers, we have the opportunity to guide students’ discoveries,

and learn a great deal in the process. Over the last two and a half decades, I

have dedicated much of my time to teaching and developing courses and

educational materials. As a result, I have acquired extensive teaching

experience at the undergraduate and post graduate level as an instructor,

head teaching assistant, and teaching assistant for several courses at

Islamic Azad University. More importantly, I have been a central figure in

the development of several of these courses and I have created teaching

materials that have been adopted by many courses both within and beyond
